Topic: begin a 10-12 line poem (can be rhymed or free verse) that starts with....

"I felt a funeral in my brain"

Sadness soaking my synapses
no unturned stone revelation
weeping heart's tribulation
a witness in the sanctuary of death
no woe nor tears I have bred
of defeated will and courage that bled
of a hollow dream on a timeless bed
of a fantasy that slowly turned red
emotions scour to make sense of what's said
an expression that expresses itself in any pain
to one and all, some different, some same.
how would you explain, if you felt a funeral in your brain?

Edit: the last line can be skipped since it makes up 13 lines. the poem works either way

Its your Choice

This song I sing
on the stage of life
melody heard by ears
that listen through
their hearts
would it they listen
to the beat therein
the longing for freedom
from norms of life
to breath in and out
to stop one day.
Look beyond the norm
see beyond the walls
melodies of life abound
live, love and laugh

Liar

My darkened life brightened,
The moment I fell upon her eyes
A place deep inside me lightened

I stole her heart on that first date,
Out on the ledge by the riverside
Her laugh digging deep past my locked gate,

I decided for her to wear my diamond,
And she required all of me without my disguise
I gave her pieces of me so I could have her hymen

My senses by her touch heightened
And I jerked away fearing that which my heart defies
Anger spews forth and she is frightened,

I offered her back all of her I’d siphoned,
And though she offered forgiveness for my lies,
I turned away from her, frightened

And walked away with no goodbyes

*This was a difficult one to write, but I have much more appreciation for writer's of Ballads because apparently, I suck at it  I like my first draft better that wouldn't qualify as a ballad (which I'm not sure that this does either, lol)

*15-20 line ballad was mine.
