When the door slammed I knew I had left my sanity behind.The room here is nice it's padded for my protection they tell me but, it just makes it easier for the voices to scream at me. I haven't seen my hands in days.Who shit in my pants?

When that door slammed shut
the wall went up
hiding behind a computer screen
writing poetry for the unseen
possessed by the high that only silence can provide
my thoughts are no longer too loud
I can finally breathe
the anchor is far beyond the wall into the deep
drowning in regret

When that door slammed shut,
I tried to get back in.
When that knob's lock clicked,
I tried to twist the handle.
I was always
one step behind
everything else
trying to
catch up,
while everything changes.
And as I was so focused on
opening a locked door,
I missed the one that
was already unlocked.
