Fireflies and Nightscapes

poet Anonymous

Lost_Angel said: Stars

There's a patch of sun
Behind every cloud
I know I'll reach it
Somehow

I can throw up my arms
And wish for a rainbow
But it doesn't shine
Until there's been rain

The world can weep
And I can weep
For the sorrows that pass by
But there's always more smiles to arrive

Maybe the stars are hard to find
Hiding them with the darkness inside my mind
But that's okay
They'll have to shine someday
While I've got them
It might as well be today.

My favorite poem out of the bunch, easily! But then again, I love anything to do with stars. Hence my name. Lol.

My first ever poetry contest! I'm so excited!!!
Anyway, here's my Glimmer, for what it's worth.

****************
*** Glimmer***
****************

A glimmer of light, in purple radiance,
Calls me through the darkness of night.
And though the storm clouds will gather,
I know that I shall be safe and secure!
For I hear a goddess call me to dance,
And I am touched: by her most holy light.
She bears me through the harsh weather,
And brings me near to her blessed shore.
Oh such a glimmer I see in her eyes…
Though they be blue as azure in the rain!
She wears mortal flesh, a thin disguise…
To hide, a mother’s heart, and her pain.
This child knows delight in her fair voice,
For I behold the glimmer through tears…
Which fall when I think of man’s deceit!
Oh humanity, you do still have a choice,
Though war wracked Earth for years…
But you choose to walk on broken feet.
I weep, and in the night I seek a glimmer!
The goddess calls my spirit near to her.

A glimmer of light, and then I am eased,
Of life’s burdens, for but a briefest hour.
People know me not, but I behold much!
I walk unseen, but I have felt my sorrow.
Shall I be whole if my divinity is pleased?
She is mortal now, having no such power.
But I like to think of her divinely, as such.
It gives me hope for a brighter tomorrow.
A glimmer of light, and then I do awake…
From the illusion: of this world’s every lie.
She is the one; of her wisdom I partake…
And when her wings emerge, we will fly!
I know not where we shall go, or when,
But the horrors of my past will subside…
For love shall open the gates of Heaven!
So I must swift hasten, my lagging stride.

Hi there, Grace! I'm super happy to see you hosting contests again here on DUP. I always loved your contests! In fact, this is quite the lovely contest you have going on right here... many beautiful entries for it, too. It's going to be hard to pick a winner, I'd imagine! Good luck to everyone, and to you included Laurie.

Oh Grace! I read your latest poems and felt your sadness. I was moved to write you a poem. I called it "Winter Seed" and you can find it under my main poem entries here on DUP. I hope you like it and that it brightens your heart in this lonely time in your life.

Be well, my dear, dear friend.

Faithlessly Immaculate

I starve for salvation,
I crave a change in the heed of this strenuous situation,
Red flags appear with every step,
Lurking right behind me and I can feel his breath.

He makes no sound but his stare burns like ice,
I can't imagine my existence in absence of his knife,
He penetrates me in only the folds of my arms,
When I say no, he comes in waves, oh the pain, always in harms,
Way,
above I see this flickering light,
And though it seems new, and smells of fresh super nova,
It's always been in my sight,
But when he's around, It's consumed by his aura.

He's so dark and smells of pollution, maybe even acid,
And yet this light is pulling me closer and closer,
It's so overwhelming I'm, barely even sure it's truly happening..
A voice of angst and so much concern, tells me to let go, I've so much to learn!

To break free from his hold, and come to the light.
There are others like me, abused and confused by the devils might.
He sucks you in, and chews you into tiny pieces, i always give in despite,
This wonderful organization of angels, ready to save me, can't bare to see me lose this fight.

All I had to do was open my eyes, search deep down inside,
For there is always this voice, my own personal guide.
Pointing me in the right direction, and trying to deliver me from evil.
I'm done with this weakness, and living for his little thrill.
Because I fear that it's my soul he wants to kill,
And I won't waste this perfectly working form of transportation,
Only a fool would throw such beauty in the trash, arrogant deviation.

I may be addicted to his abuse and the way he makes me feel,
And at times its extremely hard to not want to revisit the thrill,
But with the help of these beings of the light, I'm strong enough to finally fight,
It's not going to be easy, and theres never an easy way out, I must use all my might,
I must strive to do right, and listen to the voice inside,
The one that truly loves me, and leads me not into damnation.
But helps me find the god inside, the moment all the pain subsides.

I know I conquered that evil man who's love was superficial,
His pointy claws penetrations weren't exactly confidential.
He helped me burn down, basically demolish far too many bridges,
but now I'm ready to build, I've done all of my dishes.
From here on out, it's positively, most definitely, constant contact with my higher power,
Anything else, I'm merely an indigent fool, knowingly allowing the devil my soul to devour.

I see the light, and I'm no longer deep in the dark.
He still follows me at night, But the path I'm on is far too bright.
My chariot came to me and gave me another chance that everyone isn't always so fortunate to get,
With a new lease on life and head well rested, I'm excited to spread my wings, reborn today, with no regret.

God gave you a gift, you can't return it, or exchange it for something different,
You mustn't take it for granted, you have a purpose in this world, he's already planned it.
But you're given the right to do as you please, u can't justify bad deeds when u cry on your knees..
Stand tall, don't fall, ask him for direction. He's rightfully your master, don't turn his creation into a disaster.

Laurie has great taste, I must say! That poem of yours, Angel, is my favortie of the bunch too... other than Laurie's... I must admit. You two have a LOT of talent! And beautiful hearts, too.
