Poetry Contest

Write a poem about time.
i was just listening to "Time" by Pink Floyd and I realized it had not only great lyrics but also it described exactly how I felt: time passes by behind me, then when I turn around, it's suddenly a whole year later and I'm wondering what the hell happened.
So how do you feel about time? Does it go by too quickly or too slowly? Do you fear it? Do you love it?

Time Difference

Frigid walls of four
without promise to be free
innocent proved guilty

his time drags on

Months to live is six
without hope of prolonging
mother of three to be taken

her time rushes by

Years to conceive is fifteen
the heartache has finally ended
only nine months to go

her time crawls along

To raise them right by eighteen
the greatest challenge he knows
from diapers to diplomas

his time races ahead

Death came without warning
awaited chances are none
it happened just now

no more time is left

Sign language

For years I've wanted to throw the little yellow clock next to my bed, across the room
If I threw it hard enough then maybe
maybe

it would pass through my window

constant ticking is close to
what I imagine Chinese torture to be like
each second stands alone

But I've contemplated for years
Throwing this clock
never acting out further than picking it up

Doubt that I'd be able
to make it through the glass due to the lack of strength in my arm
allows the little yellow clock to remain sat
with the reins in its hands

The constant reminder of hour-less minutes and minute-less seconds keeps me aware
That it is still there
And I. I am still here

The Missing Aglet

     Sunset

Escape of thoughts never
Completely contemplated

The mark of another word I failed
To say right

Echos of a prayer for light to see my way
Aware that I’m blind

    Dawn

A shot to start the race
I’m still tying my shoe

It’s the hesitation to shoot the mocking bird
Singing my requiem

Beginning a life long journey
That starts one step back

I hope these fit the time theme well enough.

I remember

I remember the fading sunset
over the glowy blue ocean
the gentle breeze that blew
the soft white sand
the calls of the seabirds
as they flew for home

I remember your hands on mine
your warmth of you
in the circle of my arms
the gentle kiss
on my forehead
the slow walk home afterwards

I remember the promises you made
the words gentle and kind
a pact to be together, to return
to that place again
the seaside far in the north
to remember this time

And now as I look at you
slumbering by my side
I thank what gods there are
who granted our wish that day
to live for each other everyday
and I will never forget

           < three red clocks >

           ticking their tocks
           chanting their vows
           with tiny mouths...

           singing
           in the songs of seconds
           voicing
           in the minute's dance
           speaking
           of the hour's progression
           daring
           in the day's good dance

           these red clocks
           their double-A's
           (both Duracell and bunny)
           conflicted smiles upon their face
           watching
           find us funny

           spinning in the summer sun
           creeping through the winter
           with brethren they wait patiently
           for time and thoughts
           to splinter

take solace in the parallel existence of happier possibilities

the clock is ticking
but time isn't moving
the tick that you hear
is just the same tick

over

and over

and the clock is turning
but the earth is not
the same minute
cycles through numbers

to pass

eternity

and we do not exist
for you and i are just
nothing more
than a single point

along

possibility

They say time will pass.
Time will heal..
Maybe it could,
If it would just stand still.

But it keeps going
And so will we..
Disappearing tracks
And fading memories..

Time is never ending..
When we are all gone
Time will continue to go
Beating constant and strong..

So time won't stitch these wounds
And won't fade those scars..
Be thankful for whats now
And listen for the alarm..

Time Runs Out

Time is a new thought
That my brain has found
It was burried in the back
All safe and sound

But now my instincts are wild
And the thought is out
Now I can't stop thinking
"What if we were without?"

To be without time
Would mean to be without life
Because life is an amount of time
With only one strife

To continue to live
That's all some ask
But it will always end
No matter your mask

Some wear masks
That are bright and good
Others wear masks
Dark with a hood

But no matter the type of life
You choose to live
It will quickly end
Because time is short on the gives

Come, look with me inside this drawer
In this box I've often seen
At the pictures, black and white
Faces proud, still and serene.

I wish I knew the people
These strangers in the box
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among the socks.

I wonder what their lives were like,
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.

If only someone would have taken time,
To tell who, what, and when,
Those faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.

Could this become the fate
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday to be tossed away.

Make time to save your pictures
Seize the opportunity when it knocks
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.

Time- Now

Now Now Now Now
 Now, is gone again
Like the Phoenix
A Legend
You shall not tame
She perches carefree
on your perception
Her tantalizing
Amaranthine flame

Now, is gone again

For when the distance
between disappears
She flies and vanishes
Leaving a fiery trace
For you to reminiscence
Then reappearing
in a distant, again
And you like moths to flames
A predestined cliche
Impossible to abstain
Advance then

Now, is gone again

Perpetual rebirth
But she never will be tamed
For those who've tried
Their souls are set aflame
Cursed to live in the past
Vision without horizon
Memories of dust, encaves
Now Now Now Now
 Now, is gone again

Flows like
an arrow,
only one
way, at
least that's
what they say.
