Taking The Violet Away

Tell me about your dreams
what goes on ,   behind the scenes
does emotion ,   never seem
to be the one ,    you ever feel
the day is done ,   so unreel
down goes the sun ,   glow , surreal

Is the energy ,    of above
the one you deal in ,   for your love
have you ever seen him ,   at all , enough
clandestine meetings ,   a mall or church

The day is done
down goes the sun
come on and get out ,  your gun

The day is done
down goes the sun
come on and get out ,   your gun

So unreel
glow ,  surreal
make everybody feel
the time has come
for us to run
from done deals
come on and get it  ,  get your gun
I wont feel it
because I'm numb
an orange peeling ,  dried up
I'm on the ceiling ,   that's where I'm stuck
in a dodgy dealing ,  and no luck .

So tell me about ,  your dreams
what goes on ,     behind the scenes
does your anologue , tick in time
and come into line ,   with mine
are these words ,    just fine lines
in turning worlds ,   so blind

I wont feel it ,    I'm numb
on the ceiling and stuck
go on get it ,    get your gun
and kill it ,     the bitter flavour  .

The day is done
down goes the sun
come on and get out ,  your gun

The day is done
down goes the sun
come on and get out ,  your gun

It's time ,   to make it right
in the darkened ,   lightday
sunshine ,  of a night
is taking , the violet away .

If then...

If then, I can't stay
will you remember me
all the words we say
will you sit and stare
at my photographs

If then, my time comes
to say my eternal goodbye
will you shed a tear
will you think of me
and say those were the days

Chorus
If then, my friend
If then, I've gone
you will then know
I left you my love

If then I do return
In your nights in dreams
will you hold me then
if only for a while
To share the warmth

If then, I whispered
I love you, my friend
Would you be surprised
Would you push me back
As you have done before

Chorus
If then, my friend
If then, I've gone
you will then know
I left you my love

strength

The only reason i'm here
the only time i need you
is when i dare to shed a tear

i'm only one person
please be my watcher
and no excuse for a reason

chorus:
strength; i need you
strength; i can't make it through
strength; if only you knew
love's way of saying goodbye

it doesn't matter anymore
in what way i'm in
please welcome company to my shore

how much time?
is it really worth the while?
could you save a heart like mine?

(repeat chorus x2)

i'm going away
goodbye strength
you could help somebody else
strength... (repeat until music fade)

"your loss"

You cheated said fuck her
Now she’s here all fucked up
All alone on the dance floor
Flashing lights I’m feeling right
Take two shots and sneak behind
Nice and slow she wine and grind
Turn around put her lips to mine
I take her upstairs and make her mine
Vengeance done slipped her mind
Staring deep, into her eyes
She pulled me close, deep inside
Fucked her right, all night
She fell in love, in one night
20 missed calls won’t change her mind
You fucked up, but you want to fight
Go ahead and apologize
She’ll still be here tomorrow night
because your just another guy
Who broke a heart with a stupid lie
Unfortunate, isn’t that  right
O well, that’s life
Unlike you I won’t lie
I cherish, what is mine
Lesson 1 from a good guy
Its round 2, if you don’t mind
shut the door and goodbye

A Tazer Won't Phase Her

I sit in the tunnel
alone and listen
no one is coming
my thoughts are wishful

blue

there's only you .

I don't know why
I come here sometimes
echoeing , falling
I keep on calling

you

there's only you .

Wandering I'm lost
in the frost you frozen
beholden
I'm folding
untold
in the cold
of

you

where are you .

A lazer she sent down
broke my emotions
a tazer won't phase her
no commotion or frown
at all

she'll never crawl

Was it nice
did it feel good
my insides you diced
then you boiled my blood ,
how does it feel
to taste my spleen ,
was I clean enough
for your taste buds ,
distraction
detraction
subtraction love ,
a fraction
or fracture
is all I ever
was

that's all I was  .

- Reaching Out -
A Song of Darkness

I reach out to the stars, and I am calling your name…
You answer me in the darkness, with passion’s flame.
I feel the wings of shadow emerge from my back,
As we soar through the night, in gowns silken black!
Pleasure unending, and passion unrestrained…
Madness so beautiful, it poisons your brain.
Don’t ask me to regret, for I cannot know shame!
I am one with the darkness, but cannot be blamed.

Do not remember; do not look to the past…
For there Hell is waiting, when Heaven can’t last!
Do you hear my voice, as it sings to the stars?
In the name of the fallen, of devils and whores!

Your hand, with black polish as dark as the Abyss…
I see it stretch forward, your lips hungry for my kiss.
I feel your every desire, and so I want to cry out,
But my voice has fallen silent, far too silent to shout!
Pleasure unending, and passions unspoken…
Madness is your reward for paying the token.
Don’t ask me to reason, for emotion has its’ bliss!
And chaos is a maiden, that most ancient goddess.

Do not forget me; do not cast me aside…
For I dwell in the darkness, and in fire abide!
Do you hear the music, the symphony I play?
In the name of the fallen, of souls gone astray!

I reach out to you now, and I see you are waiting…
There is no going back, to all their lying and hating.
The preachers deceived you; so now you know,
Some flames are rapture, and pleasant their glow!
Pleasure unending, and passion to be shared…
Madness with meaning: if you are not scared.
Don’t ask me to go back to taste Heaven’s sting!
I am one with the darkness, and old chaos I bring.

Do not look forward; the future is unknown…
Like me you are cast down and can never atone!
Do you hear my voice, as it whispers the way?
In the name of the fallen, I hear when you pray!

- The Lion’s Lament -

I saw a marvel in Heaven that I must convey,
A woman like a dove bade me look and pray.
Alone she slumbers, whilst man dreams long…
But I walked in her dream as I heard her song.
Child, come over to me and know peace true!
This she spoke unto me, ‘ere she was through.
And beyond the waters of the Abyss I soared,
Whilst like a great golden lion, I loudly roared.

Had I wished for so terrible a revelation as so,
Was granted unto me, in the waters that flow?
Or from the heights, when the light broke free,
And told me the truth about my dark destiny…
Until at last, I could endure the pain no longer.
Yet still was I spared worse, until far stronger!
A storm was in the Abyss, laughing thunders…
Whilst my eyes beheld: my creator’s wonders.

Was I so vain that I thought myself the whole?
How could I have forgotten what I now extol!
Wisdom wanted me to see, and for truth sue…
I opened my eyes, because I wanted this too.
All that I saw, I so beheld until I saw no more,
Yet even still there was so much truth in store.
I knelt in awe, giving my life to a higher cause,
And when all was done, I saw all there was…

Until, from her slumber, my creator did wake,
And no more wisdom was left, to so partake.
The woman in me wept, and the man as well!
For some visions hold more pain than all Hell.

- Diana’s Song -

A ship there was in the void of the stars,
Where a people lost journeyed very far…
They remembered the bite of fear and fire.
But two hearts beat with a single desire…
Diana, you were as much a rebel as was I.
You had a bold heart and a sparkling eye!
How tightly you held me when they came,
To end all our rebellion in Heaven’s name!

A ship of fools with no place left to roam.
On a sea of night with no water or foam…
When the war of the gods raged too long,
Diana and I sang out one last defiant song!

So much they remembered of things I did,
But naught of the love that within me hid…
Blinder than I had been in my old ambition.
Diana, you wept when I went to perdition!
Wait for me my love, for all things do end.
In the next era of time, we will meet again!
How tightly you held me until you let go…
And how cold is space when winds blow.

A ship of fools with no place left to roam.
On a sea of night with no water or foam…
When the war of the gods raged too long,
Diana and I sang out one last defiant song!

My soul was parted from the flesh I wore,
But they could not take, the love I bore…
It burns still hot within my maidenly breast.
Though fallen from Heaven I need no rest!
Diana, I wonder what form you now wear;
I like to think it is lovely beyond compare.
The next era has come, and I think of you,
When the starlight glistens, softly and true!

A ship of fools with no place left to roam.
On a sea of night with no water or foam…
When the war of the gods raged too long,
Diana and I sang out one last defiant song!

My love is for the taking

my love is for the taking,
for the keeping, for You
my love cannot be stolen,
cannot be ransomed,
only given away

and if You broke my heart
i'd be the only one to blame
but if You stayed forever,
keep that torch a flame

and i will sing,
all my songs
only to You
and here in the rain
i choose to sit with You

my love is for the taking,
for the keeping, for You
my love cannot be stolen,
cannot be ransomed,
only given away

Cleche, Marie says she wants someone to love
Marsha's on drugs
Cos' she likes her rock n roll
All the boys in metal t-shirts
Kissing where it hurts
Cos there aint no other place to be

The jukebox
Where we flocked at the diner all day
Our 80's parties and our deep red mustangs
We're made of cleche's
Headbands and g-strings, barbeques
And beers

[CHORUS]
I'm not one to protest
But it's the 21st century
Aint this shit getting old?
We're 17 going on gone
Gone, gone
And we've never even been in love

Innocents and after dinner mints
Our brothers and sisters
And our fathers and mothers
Lapse when we sneak out the windows
To go to some mix-up
With gin and mix tape spiked substances

The air filled with the smell of nikotine
The room filled with our sisters and brothers
And some peculiar mothers
Who like their boys of a certain maturity

[CHORUS]
I'm not one to protest
But it's the 21st century
Aint this shit getting old?
We're 17 going on gone
Gone, gone
And we've never even been in love

You like fast cars
Big bras
Zesty colours
Rock stars
Musicals
You like hot boys
With fast cars
And their older brothers...

I Don't Think They Wrote 'em This A'way

(I just heard this on the radio so I had to do a Parody)

It's the same old dream, writing them songs
but with a day time career
Business suits and me don’t get along
Seems like I’m stuck in first gear
I need a break!

Somebody told me get on down to Nashville
Son you’ll finally have it made
Old Kris made it here, we’re all sure that you will
But I don't think Kris wrote ‘em this way
I don't think Kris wrote ‘em this way

Ten years in this cube, trying for a hit
Writing my young life away
Tell me one more time just so I’ll give a shit
Are you sure Tom T wrote ‘em this way
Did Ol' Tom T really write ‘em this way?

I've seen the world on a five day plan
That’s all the vacation they give me
Writing at work while hiding out in the can
But I don't think Willie wrote 'em this a'way
No I don't think Willie wrote 'em this a'way

Sick Obsession

It's a sick obsession of soul regression
And I miss you like grade eight detention
When I laughed so hard I nearly cried
At the absurdity of thirteen year old lies

And it's so sick, another midnight party trick
Listening, high, at the clock as it ticks
And i'm running deeper into the abyss
All for another loveless kiss

We're down, we're low, and we're letting go
Got to keep up when you're moving too slow
Lost in the memories of a watercolor dream
Cause no... no... nothing is what it seems

So take me down, and watch me drown
Claim your throne and wear the crown
Give in to all your physical desires
And all the resentment you can sire

It's a sick obsession of soul regression
And I miss you like grade eight detention
When I laughed so hard I nearly cried
At the absurdity of thirteen year old lies

It's sick, so, so sick, a dirty little party trick
Double cut heroin to the addict
And it's so low, it feels like I can fly
On the residue of these hollow lies

And we're talking while we're walking
Mind games and cyber stalking
Where there's no room for permanent delete
Find rewind, so I can press repeat

And we're going up, letting go... oh fuck
It's too much, and it's not enough
With four letters in every word
Screamed so loud they can't be heard

It's a sick obsession of soul regression
And I miss you like grade eight detention
When I laughed so hard I nearly cried
At the absurdity of thirteen year old lies

It's a sick obsession
It's a soul regression
Like grade eight detention
Waiting smugly... for suspension

I love you...
Go fuck yourself...

at home alone
with all your c.d's
I was so lonely
when Dylan found me!
Your lack of presence
made me feel small-
I found comfort somewhere in The Wall.
You said I seemed distant
when I made friends with Janice,
but she was so much stronger
than any Alanis!
I drank with the Band
as you laid in the bed
But thats okay- because
I found the Dead
Now you are sad-
you say this is scary!
I'm sorry my brother-
but you led me to Jerry!
I know you with
music- you never miss a beat-
So know what I say now
As I blast this LittleFeat!
You left me all alone
while you ran away to play,
I was Comfortably numb but
thats not so today.
This stone has Rolled..
Thank's for the fun
I wanted the Moon
but thank's for the Sun.

Just Faraway

Verse 1:
It always amazed me that people don't stay in one place anymore.
Never thought that came with a price to pay
But I never really had a choice to make.

Chorus:
And it would just brighten my day.
If your face would appear at my door.
But I know you're just faraway.
Yeah, you're just faraway.

Verse 2:
I go to visit you.
But I feel like a stranger there too.
You make and break promises in the same day.
Now there's no where I belong.
Because the places I've been placed in, seem to both fit me wrong.

Chorus:
And it would just brighten my day.
If your face would appear at my door.
But I know you're just faraway.
Yeah, you're just faraway.

Bridge:
It seems when you pull a lie from here to there.
It always hurt more
When you break it in thin air.

Chorus:
And it would just brighten my day.
If your face would appear at my door.
But I know you're just faraway.
Yeah, you're just faraway

Chorus (Reprise):
It always amazed me that people never stay in one place anymore.
Didn't know that came with a price to pay.
And it would just brighten my day
If your face would appear at my door.
But it helps to know you're just faraway.
Yeah, you're just faraway.

(Written for my grandfather, R.I.P. Robert J. Mathieu)
