NaPo 2023 Stomp The Prompt Comp
Paracosmos
I think the year was 1966
when the big kids at summer camp
forced a nine year old
to use the Ouija board
because the pointer moved
for me though I barely
touched it!
that traumatic night
gave way for an attachment
My friends and family
said it is my imaginary friend
It didn’t feel like make believe
the scratches never felt
like just pretend
I conned myself into believing
the entity protected me
from other entities
Ghosts, Demons – even Angels
In exchange for the scratches
In places I couldn’t reach
I have never touched
another spirit board since
my days growing up
on Oahu, Hawai’i
too afraid of another
imaginary friend
i suppose
In 2014, i asked the entity
to leave me and although
i didn’t feel it’s presence
anymore,
i still get some scratching
now and then
Perhaps,
It’s my imaginary friend

Avoid The Promptoid
Bouncing along
with a cryoblaster horn
his head in a red hoodie
of brain frozen fog
Prompt crusher
weirdo gadget contraption
I mean really, as if
that thing might work
Dooooe ! Not again
that darned corrugated box
is so good at insulating
all that deliciousness
Get a pen and paper
you silly wed wabbit
do it the right way
If you want to say 'hehe'
It didn't take a panel
of pizza tasters to realize
it would take just one imposter
to give this guy the moon boot
into video games
(Aw, but he's so cute, can't hate him...)

Purple Peeple Eater
In the Easter tradition
those little yellow birdies
were so fun to eat
but the purple ones, come on
do they have jelly bird fever or
something, what's next,
Red Lake # 40 bunny, oh thats right
they already thought of it.
The red MnM with bunny ears
Eat him, unless he becomes
up for debate like skittles now.
I want to be a rainbow too.
I'm going to just crunch on
some jellybeans, spice, fruit,
all of them inclusively.
Balance my chakras at the same time,
perhaps. Lets see how long I can balance
the purple one on my head...
Ohmmmm....
I mean, Just pass the candy..

Reincurring Ephialtes
Unable to breathe
thigh, calf and foot
massive pain
cramping
Woke up from
a nightmare
i’ve had since i
was very small
Self mindful
documentation
spanning over
6 decades. . .
night and day
asleep and awake
dream surfaces
during extreme
stressful times (like coming up with a daily poem for 30 days)
It’s a transparent cube
Trapped, i press
against its walls
to no avail as it shrinks
iI think this is where
it all began ---
my phobia,
my claustrophobia

Ahh, dreams, they can be good or bad, but they always find us and reveal our intuition.. archetypal indeed !

Lit'l Six Pack
Buns of exotic spice
under creamy satin
forged in aluminum
the finish divine
Kitchen heroics
the production line
of messy remains
and doughy crumbs
Sweet indulgence
wafting in the sultry air
flying by night to rendevous
with deepest cravings
Baking up a batch
of dreams realized
is nothing small
it is a robust achievement
To herald over coffee

Cheers, Fellers!
This poem's not about one unsung hero.
For how could that be so?
This poem's about the whole fourteen.
I mean, of course, the NaPo Team:
there's Josh and SummerRain and Wallyroo,
PR, Wafflenose and Eerie too;
Scotland's finest, Fiftysevenhours,
LunaGrey and her poetic powers;
Cipher_O, what more can I say?
And that Dynamic girl, LJ;
then there's Cab who's Cool, of that there is no doubt,
and could I ever leave the Webmiss out?
And finally there's Johnny Blaze and Ahavati,
without whom NaPo would not even be.
So thank you, Team,
I appreciate the work you do,
and my special Trophy
I award to all of you. 🏆

Kraken Up
Part the sea, do your bid
you snorting aberration
see if you can tsunami
our ways out of existence
your feral snarl is intentionable
and your scales impermeable
not much of a heart under there
it would seem
I mean you are laughable
as if you could sink a ship
by thrashing your flimsy
flip flopping tentacles
at the lowest hanging fruit
in your short upward reach
inspiring drawings of scrimshaw
is your biggest achievement
Go on, threaten our masses
you mythical beast of lore
I don't believe you are out there
a bunch of drunken sailors
with their sea stories
where no others survive but them
to relay the tall tale, so go on
swim back into archetypal oblivion
and do us mortals a favor
stay there

A Greek Tragedy
The Eagle
didn't like Aeschylus
and he wanted him dead,
so he took decisive action
and dropped a tortoise on his head.

What makes this entry so interestingly apropos is that the upcoming Pluto Rx will conjunct fixed star Altair in the constellation Aquila the Eagle.
