State of Mind

My mind runs.
I tell it not to, but it seems to be training for a marathon at the moment.
It runs more than a mile a minute.
I could be doing one thing at a time, but its still multitasking.
My mind is constantly playing, like tv static in my head.
The thoughts get cramped up in my tiny skull,
That they move down and throughout my body.
Doing nothing isn’t nothing.
It’s like I’m running the marathon with my mind.
With all of that going on,
Even waking up is tiring.

But I like when it storms outside.
I like to sit in my quiet room, listening.
To the claps of thunder,
The pounding of the rain,
and the wind pulling the trees every which way.
The chaos outside is bigger than imaginable.
Its Mother Nature for god's sake.
So, it makes my own thunderstorm a little less important.
It makes the runner up there stop for a water break.
It lowers the volume of the tv static playing in my mind.
It opens my body to freely release all the cramped up thoughts.
And I actually feel comfortable.

Eventually, though, it will just be back to me and my thoughts.
That's why the only reason why I dislike thunderstorms, is because they end.

I am Hers

She has an indescribable Poise
A true grace like no other
She is Mine

She defines innocence
A purity so divine
She is Mine

She has selfless devotion
To me and only me
She is Mine

She is sexy
Curves so perfect skin so soft
She is Mine

She is gorgeous
A face and smile of radiant light
She is Mine

She is beautiful
To the depths of her being
She is mine

She is an individual
There could not be another
She is mine

She is selfless
With a true caring soul
She is Mine

She is brave
A fierce warrior Princess
She is Mine

She is angelic
Lighting the day and kind beyond words
She is Mine

She is amazing
Full of surprise and astonishment
She is Mine

She Is everything
My one My only My always My home
I am hers

Dimly lit candle light

Carrying the dimly lit candle light that struggles to glint

Feel the cold biting breeze as you wander the abyss

That moves like swift hands to smother the flame quick

Nothing but this sunless void will ever exist

The life of that light being your only wish

When you try to run, remember there's no where to fix

That dimly lit candle light

Its all you know

When that light fades

In your heart it will start to snow

Your pain from many dark days are what steals it's glow

For too many times the darkness was there but nobody knows

What hides in those shadows will be the reason to go

That dimly lit candle light is something they'll never know.

I'm ready

Lay me down
So I can sleep.
My breath, my soul
Is yours to keep.

I'm ready.

Take my hand and my heart
And lead me to the dark.

I'm ready.

My eyes are open.
My mind is close.
My decision is set.
My path is prepared.

I'm ready

Silence summons,
Speaking soliloquies secretly,
Self seeking spiritual satisfaction
Surety

I'm ready

To forfeit the treasures of this life
For eternal cessation of all things,
My tranquility.

I'm ready

Innocence returning

There's a cold breeze
coming through the back door
causing it to creak on its hinges,
Grandad's gone across the backs
to feed his pigeons.

I find him inside the empty loft
closing derelict cages,
gently I place an arm
around the confusion.
Using soft words we stumble outside
towards real moments.

The overgrown allotment glistens
through droplets, strung out
across gossamer connections
that tremble in the cold morning light.
We hear the rush of racing pigeons
and watch them disappear overhead
like ghosts into field mist.

Grandad stood staring at the sky,
"they're not coming back are they son?"
I put my coat around his shoulders,
'no Grandad they've been gone too long".
We start the slow walk back towards the house,
"someone will have to tell your Nan
she loved those birds"
"She's dead Grandad,
Grandma's dead".

Did I miss the voting window on this? The last few days it was marked as ending soon, so I was hoping to read them all and cast my vote like some of the other comps recently. Or do the monthly comps work differently?

Hi, Russell.  No; you haven't missed the vote yet.  I'm sure Tallen has requested a public vote and a moderator will enable the voting process soon.  You will receive a notification about it in your updates.
