Amazon Compassion (Roman Charity)

Inspired by a famous photo of a female soldier nursing her wounded foe

On battlefield’s misery
The amazon looked upon
Her wounded enemy
With eyes of sympathy

Mother warrior laid down her sword
Lifting wounded head to her breast
Whilst angry waring legions carried on
She nursed her wounded foe

Her warrior’s spirit yielded
To her maternal instinct
Mars raged, Venus praised
For death would not win the day
For maternal love defeated hate

Woman...Who is She?

She is a Grandma- who when life is collecting tolls, still saves a candy for me in her spectacles' case
She is a Mother- who when everyone gives up, makes me believe I can still win any race
She is a Sister- who no matter what knows how to fetch a smile on my gloomy face
She is Friend- who despite all my flaws, for what it's worth chooses to stay

She is the Silver Lining on our Cloudy Day
She is the Knight who protects us from our own Rage
She performs multiple roles in one Play
And each one of them she does with incredible Grace

for men who think of themselves as kings,
Remember she is not just a Queen, she is the Ace
She is the definition of Strength, Sacrifice and Serenity in every possible way
And she does it all without any Wage
Truly Every day is HER day.

To all the gorgeous Women- THANK YOU and I SALUTE YOU for making this world beautiful and a better Place.

RESPECT.

A curious case of sacrifice

There were no tears or cries for clemency
she stood expressionless
tore the broken skin from her back
and made a hang-man's hood
then handed it to her executioner

The Bygone (E)Ra (Re)Turns...A FireEye

a chirpy rhythmic
sparrowy koel
(she was)
in a rare naturalistic flair

and, in blue print nylons. those mini florals
a matching locket dangled . timidly metallous

devoid of blues (was she)

her eyes lit
as she looked upon Ra
(like everbefore)

who, a clumped mass
immobilized
by its conceptions
of obsoleted self

to her
the Ra was Soulflame
burning endlessly zealous

Ra, reminiscing
through its bloated vagueness pockets
greened gangrenes
weighed itself down
in strangulating blockades

not an illumination until distant visions
doomed times in marching strides

a reducing matchstick
abrased its solid graphitic stamps
and choking smogs
over its ashen nothingness

it needed to starve in stringent constrictions
to be fusing its spaces from within and between
to be gotten kissing stuck in purposed strongholds kicking forward

each segmental cell danced n-directions
a lightning centipede but paced smooth
much differently from shelled slimy snail

indecipherably penetrating fire
of mingled singularity

explosions are for the ordinary

easy
for some
to crack and crumble
under strain
or
to explode
in anger

yet
some special humans
stand in front
of a running train
and make it crumble
with just their silence

it is another matter
altogether
the effect
on the passersby

be it awe
or
the concern
raw.

DELPHI

I knew it would happen one day,
Being an oracle and all,
Diminutive, though status tall.

Look and regard, I've awakened
Swirling waters of future past
Counter-clockwise, your gaze to cast.

And there he was with ease to find,
Coming up the slope with others,
Dragging slowly along behind.

He cannot possibly have heard,
But it will make sense once he does,
When all's revealed by my word.

Why am I anxious to extreme,
It's not like I have never known
Answers to everything I'm shown.

My hair, my gown & sandals worn,
A mess around me hither borne,
By clockwise future waters told.

While I watch him walk, and burdened,
He looks askance & determined,
As if it's me he wants to know.

And now the time at last arrives.
He waits for me to summon him,
With stoic glance my hand complies.

He takes two steps by light of torch,
My face filled with authority,
My mind a blank so suddenly.

His youth is not quite what it ought,
But still, he seems most beautiful,
Fair-haired, with skin of milk is wrought.

Without a word I wait upon
This man of height stands over me
With crane of neck so I may see

The mouth where words will issue forth.
If little more, I bare the rate
Which, dare it cost, what time is worth.

He has his chance please take it now
To ask of me of global fame.
At last it comes, "What is your name?"

This is the most beautiful and powerful poem in this page so far. Also, unlike the others, it's well presented. Bravo, Jade-Pandora!

I'm not sure why it won't let me link my piece. I'm just going to C&P it, and post it. My entry is in my poems though.

Stronghold

Torchlight hair
snared in that
heinous 90s barrette
A square like
border patrol;
A block I'll never forget

You braved conditions
too human to be weather;
Wrenching the moss toned
umbrella
overblown
It was not a folded artichoke that day

I knew then
right then...
four years old
poring over a downpoured
patio
havens had hearty arms

And I knew my mother
is timber...

not twigs
