Poetry Contest Description
Write a Poem About Cheese🧀
Hello, Deep Undergrounders. 🙃
Back in the day, G. K. Cheesterton said that:
'Poets have been strangely silent on the subject of cheese.'🧀🧀🧀
In an attempt to correct this deplorable state of affairs, I invite you all to write the cheesiest cheese poem of which you can think. The stinkiest poem wins. I'll judge.🧀🧀🧀

Cheesy Stuff...
I've been wheeled rind and rind the Yorkshire dales
they've not stilton'd on cottage industries,
holed and wheyed, cheddar gorged sniffed, licked and hailed
" a Piers ploughman's lunch, please " in hostelries.
Implicated in ' Killer Cheeseburgers '
but, for sure, praised high as a Gouda'n,
then reviled as 'awful nightmare, bringer'
and strangely sold sweating, in a tin can.
I'm processed to cheesy stuff by rennet
on cauliflower been saucily poured,
then Gorgonzola'd stoned to Welsh Rewbitt
and made into strange jams like, lemon curd?
Well Brie, I'd feta mozzarella back, gal,
My Roquefort's home, edams, artisanal...

Our cheesy love
The meat is red,
chocolate is not blue.
You are the cheese
for my fondue.
Bread and gouda cheese
and a little more ham...
And we forged a customs identity,
crossed the border of desire
and I ate you whole, digested...
slowly, like anaconda,
the fat matter of our love.
You are the harmony
that completes my song.
You are the brie
that goes with my tongue.
You are the yellow
that slices in style.
chocolate is not blue.
You are the cheese

The Cheese
(WARNING: This piece may stink)
All my life I’ve never been very photogenic,
But I’ll take pictures when people ask me please,
And though I still feel a little awkward,
I clumsily smile and simply say cheese.
When the wife asks me to make breakfast,
Naughtily she gives my cheeks a squeeze,
She gets mad because I won’t grade it,
Because I like to use a knife to cut the cheese.
And when she and I have those arguments,
I don’t know how to put her mind at ease,
After the discussion if I still feel the concussion,
I quietly leave the room and go cut the cheese.
When I’ve been stuck in office meetings,
And felt an uneasy cough or sneeze,
I don’t sweat it but I later I just may regret it,
Like I like my burgers I simply hold the cheese.
But the times I’ve been in the room alone,
When no else is there and let loose the breeze,
It’s just etiquette since no one’s there to smell it,
‘Til someone comes in the room and sniffs the cheese.
I know not too many people like to talk about it,
But it’s just like the birds and bees,
Everybody does it even if some won’t discuss it,
Everyone is guilty of letting loose the cheese.

With a tangy taste, a masterpiece.
One may wonder why,
People crave its high,
Like liquor, oh, so sly,
Not grasped till you try.
Taste it long enough,
Feel the grandeur tough,
An acquired taste, not a bluff,
Endless variety, more than enough.
Mice with an oath,
Upholding cheese's troth,
Propriety in both,
Packed with vigor and nutrient broth.
Cheese has its prime,
A renowned brand over time,
Say Cheese every day,
In a rhythmic display.

Cheesy Cheese
cheesy cheese creamy and crumbly
sharp to mild and in between
a melody of cheesy tastes
spread, sprinkled and nibbled
golden sheen gouda
buttery and smooth
holes and tunnels in yellow dream
camembert cheese for spread
cheddar cheese perfect taste
so easy to the palate
aged to perfection melt in tongue
cheese close to my heart
in my salad Parmesan sprinkles
delightful savoury taste
tasty blue pungent cheese
decorated with veins of mold
mozzarella folded and blended
in pizza its stretchy and elastic
delish when a tad hot
cheese that's so pretty cheesy
I love all kind of cheese
from mild to severely cheesy
some smells like audacity
but I love them anyway
Say Cheese!

Cheese, aged sharp,
a feast for weary souls
late into the night
teasing my senses whole.
Every bite a layered delight
chased by the driest of wine
on Netflix night.
Somber lips are deaf
to the hushed tones of crumbling Ritz
or the crisp bones of saltines
if I just happen to be out.
Whispers from the scales
haunt my mind—
Oh! the secrets they keep!
Every mottled pound, chronicled
on these ever-expanding hips.
At 64 who cares? No bikini
pic adorns my fridge!
Oh! No! Just that damn shopping list
I forgot ( again ) to take;
thus, forgetting the grapes!
Now that really stinks!
