Where do you bloom?

Poetry Contest Description
Write a poem about yourself / your poetry
The June show (episode 13) is coming up folks, and we would like to again offer up the hallowed end spot of the show to feature your poetry on the podcast. The podcast goes out on multiple platforms including Spotify and Apple Podcasts, so it’s great exposure.
If you've not heard the podcast yet you can listen to past episodes here: https://deepundergroundpoetry.com/podcasts/
June is blooming season, flowers are growing and trees are showing off their green leaves, so we are asking you to write a poem about who you truly are and what does your poetry say about you? maybe you are blooming as a person or your poetry has taken another direction? we would certainly love to know if it has, you can approach the poem anyway you wish, just show us your true roots we don't bite at all.
Obviously we would really love if you would be able to read and record the poem yourself for us, but please do not feel pressured. We (or a member of the reading team currently being formed) will be able to read the poem out for you if you don't want too. We understand.
Need help with creating a video? Head on over to The Loud-Speaker poetry group for help and advice on your audio / video submissions: https://deepundergroundpoetry.com/groups/loud-speaker-poetry/discussion/

Bloom
It comes to me this season
An urge to blow the bloom
into
This day
And watch it float on the wind
In this light
It would be
An awesome spectacle
Like an apparition
Of phantasmic spiral
Twirling into its seek
The darkness a great ride for it
And platform to coast it's colors
Though they fade
They would surely fade
And be nothing
I had felt this
And done it
And would not do it again
I cannot blow along
Familiar winds
But new currents have come along
And hooked the corners of my smile
urging itself
To spread wide against the O
And my uncalm
Inhaled
At odds with with the corners of
What I am
Used to
I breathe through it
And the lovely
Ease and it's scent exists easier
Inside me
Daily
When pigments of new petals
Turn blue
I dip and streak it
Into indigo slant
across page
Delivering my self free of the shade
But not the rise of it
To the sun
not the totalling of it to my whole
And it would be if ...
But I don't
I am much too eager
To let it lie and rest a little
To meet myself I've cast into
the role played convincingly
My own shadow
And see her grow out of it
An urge to blow the bloom
into
This day
And watch it float on the wind
In this light
It would be
An awesome spectacle

Honeysuckle
In the hedgerow bursting forth
cimbing on a slender stalk
chance upon me as I walk
fullsome crown atop the thicket poked
Winding through the spring and summer still
the company of birds that trill
heavy to the nostril comes that fill
that wild song, the air so laden soaked
With tender words a spray of mist
come ruby cloud where I would sit
and none usurp its upward twist
the sense of romance so provoked
The arbour where I twine in love
on the air like wing'd doves
atomise mistletoe and Christmas clove
trumpet heady airs and love invoke
Hum with insects industry
for nectar nature gives for free
bind my spirit lend me that esprit
the sweet honeysuckle all sense become awoke
Temper find each clustered head
wild perfume within just common hedge
vine my heart deems so perfect
incense god made to be bespoke
Clinging tight to "whatever"
make it to the top with much endeavor
bring to each a little measure
a pleasured life before I croak
cimbing on a slender stalk
chance upon me as I walk
fullsome crown atop the thicket poked

Before the Summer Takes me
Written stories on petals
Ink on my stem
These words are what fuel my floral essence
Blooming, to the sound of my own mind
And growing amongst others
Winds may sway my little body aside
Fraying those bits they see
Life isn’t always milk and honey
And it shows
On my tattered green
Picking myself up from the soil
Dusting those faults to the sun above
I live fearing another wave of heat
Undermining a successful spring
So I tell myself
“Plant your seeds
Before the summer takes you.”
Ink on my stem

Blooming, to the sound of my own mind
And growing amongst others
Winds may sway my little body aside

Life isn’t always milk and honey

CAST DICE
Say my prayers, roll the bones
Bruise feet dashing on stones
Holding faith, but it is running low
I love to wraith, but the pace is slow
Trying so hard to get a six. What a cast!
No piggyback and a little short on gas
Am strong, so i get the hardest fight
Knowing that joy will come at first-light.

In The Last Days of Spring
In the last days of spring I cling to the memory
Of a reverie I vividly dreamed
In the days before summer begins
I sit in my balcony garden
Watching the trees sway in the breeze
And here
Amid the plants and the flowers
I spend hours grilling, thinking, reading and writing
Until my heart is content
I discover myself just a little more everyday
Amidst the blossoming buds in May
It’s in these days in this daze when I find inspiration
A mini vacation away from all the drudgery
I find appreciation
Where I get to relax in the garden of life
In what my wife set up as a small escape
An oasis if you will
Where I can vent and create
The season is changing
The air is getting warmer
The hot summer days are approaching
But the blue skies of late spring
Bring a nostalgic thought
Leaving me aching for words to spill
And though it may be small
It’s a big place for me
I bloom among the flowers in my balcony
Composing with optimism
That the world will get better
As long as we work toward it and believe
So I sit in the garden
Writing
With determination and hope
In these last days of Spring
Of a reverie I vividly dreamed
In the days before summer begins

I'm who I'm
I'm not defined by my birth right.
I'm not defined by my parents.
I'm not defined by my color.
I'm not defined by my race.
I'm not defined by my sex, age, weight nor my height.
I'm defined by my choices.
I choose my thoughts.
I choose my own religion.
I choose my vogue, my trend.
I choose to be loyal to my dreams.
I choose those I call my friends.
I choose my path to my own destiny
And yes.
I have made choices I've come to regret.
And made some that make me happy.
And I have made some that make me wanna hide my head in shame.
And I have also made some choices that makes me feel alive.
Maybe the choices I've made don't appeal to you.
Maybe these choices makes you hate me.
And maybe they're what makes you love me.
And sometimes this choices are all I have.
And sometimes this choices are all I need.
I'm who I'm.
Because of the choices I've made.
So cast your stones and cast your judgments.
You don't make me who I'm….
I'm not defined by my parents.
I'm not defined by my color.

Seconded mightily as I soar through the sky in the wake of Mjolnir!
Okay I'm actually wearing jean shorts before I get proper dressed in suit and tie to go shopping anon, but I am riding the lightning in spirit!
Thank you everyone for these awesome entries and I can't wait to see who comes out as king of the poetry gods! (In this particular instance. No pressure.)

Where I Bloom From
I bloom from all the cracks in the sidewalk
And where people step all over me, but do
Not take the time to admire the little things.
I bloom from the imperfections people balk
At and are too scared to see. I bloom into
Words flowers are jealous of. One springs
And blooms from all the light, but I bloom
From the darkness too. I bloom from the ash
As it led me to have new skin, hope, and life.
I bloom from a sacred and protective womb.
I bloom from the choices that left me to crash
And burn, but allowed me to learn in strife.
I bloom from the words, torn and tattered,
But yet it is poetry that becomes my savior
When I still would have been too broken or
Hurt to move on. I bloom from the splattered
Messes. I bloom from my success and failure.
Lastly, I bloom from everything people ignore.
And where people step all over me, but do
Not take the time to admire the little things.

Bloom Doom
Grew up the youngest
of three blooming brothers
Spreading my petals
everywhere I went
but trouble kept
getting my petals
stuck because of my
Oldest brother's problems
But now my petals are
holding because of
this frenzy shit the
goverments/spooks created
I am tired of this and me
being my Oldest Brother's Keeper
So plesse let my petals go do
Their blooming
of three blooming brothers
Spreading my petals
everywhere I went
but trouble kept
getting my petals
stuck because of my
Oldest brother's problems
But now my petals are
holding because of
this frenzy shit the
goverments/spooks created
I am tired of this and me
being my Oldest Brother's Keeper
So plesse let my petals go do
Their blooming

Bloom, You Must
'My sole employment is, and scrupulous care,
To place my gains beyond the reach of tides,'
- Henry David Thoreau
I am rooted in such grief
as fate's sour stream e'er runs beneath
to carry all the world's runoff,
flowing wide beyond belief.
In ev'ry man resides this place
wherein his mind has fallen from grace;
the hand that brought him far away
is too the same as new found foray.
Oh, stems that bore such heads of gold
to rise above the ways of old,
e'er forth to bloom you must,
would every bee betray that trust.
'Tis the root of everything
that comes to light in what sorrow brings;
perhaps it lands so far away
blown as seeds to sovereign ways.
And there, shall every answer be
blooming amongst both rock and tree
and I, denouncing conformity
shall bloom alone,
my mind e'er free.
