Halloween Queens

Where shadows find a peaceful home
to twist through frightful trees.
There spirits evil likely roams
who stirs the icy breeze.
Forms silhouette the pale night sun
and steal a stray moonbeam.
Anticipating this journey done
they sing and laugh and scream.
A starry map to be their guide
like a snow flaked pool of pitch.
Joined with others along the ride
are pets as such each witch.
Creepy spider, screechy bat
and bumpy wart filled toad.
A clawing hissing inky cat
on the back of brooms they rode.
Jack-o-lanterns circle round
a sacred clearing in the woods.
Sisters one by one touch the ground
near poison hemlock stood.
More and more came devil brides
in black leather, silks and lace.
To join with covens nationwide
around a cauldron they embraced.
The fire stoked they cast their spell
conjured potions and a charm.
Made a vile brew in taste and smell
like the dew of underarm.
For once a year once a night
once the dawn has come.
They’re once again out of sight
at once there where they’re from.
Innocent youth find them out
donned in mask and dress disguised.
Summon with the words they shout
nay witch shall be surprised.
Tis a Halloweens trick or treat
that hangs thick with magic air.
Feast well the sour and the sweet
and expect a little scare.

Fashionista! #13: Trick or Treat!🐾

Hello, dear friends, it’s Fashionista Time!
My favorite holiday, and now it’s hers.
For Tig, her first, that cutest pixie mime:
A wish - to be like Mom, my little girl’s.

I’ve shown what Halloween is all about.
We’re in a Target at the costume racks,
To choose the one to wear when we go out
With scary look, wax teeth & candy sack?

I’ve given Tig carte blanche, no cost is spared.
She roams b’twix the hobgoblins & ghosts,
And finds a shelf with masks & isn’t scared
To grin & pick the one she wants the most.

She points: a plastic pumpkin for the sweets,
The clerk rings up two nickels & two fives.
Then right away we head out to the streets,
The smell of rain!, just then the bus arrives.

We’re back at home preparing for the night,
By my front door the bowls of candy there.
I check the Target bag, this can’t be right:
Is this all that I bought at Herald Square?

A happy tiger mask??, ain’t that the most!
She isn’t any bride of Frankenstein,
Or Kermit frog, and not a Casper ghost!
With Singer, sewed a cotton sheet & twine.

The light of day is fading, Tig’s all set:
A ghostly vision of a sparkle cat.
We go downstairs, the grass & trees are wet,
A tie-dyed rainbow showing off its tats.

My daughter dances gigg’ling down a street
Her head is full of Skittles, JuJuBees!
To trick someone to give her favorite treat,
Try Abazaba, Look, or Milk Duds, please!

No apples, kale or figs - my FYI,
Nor vegan substitutes with nuts and soy.
You don’t know what you’re doing if you try,
My Tig won’t stand for any other ploy.

A muskrat, tomcat, straw hat play nearby,
They’re trading booty while I keep the score.
I hear a shout, my mouth starts to go dry,
It sounds like Tig & coming from next door.

And here she comes full tilt, almost a blur
She’s chasing down a senior, someone’s dad.
It IS my Tig shape-shifted with striped fur;
I love my sweet-toothed cub she sure is mad.

You leave that one alone, too old for you!
“But Mom, he gave persimmons with a worm!”
I warned you of the old, too hard to chew!
“I haven’t reached my Mars bar quota yet!”

Now Tig we had our fun you got your sweets;
Too much of a good thing becomes a pain.
Let’s go get fries & burgers, it’s my treat,
Since In-N-Out in Queens it’s not the same!

The Collectors

I close my eyes when those ghosts come at me
With beautiful serrated smiles
They say they come to claim what’s rightfully theirs
Or else to another realm I’ll be exiled
I don’t want to be afraid of their tentacle embraces
Or the faces of terror I see as if I was a child

Their visages distorted, unhallowed and contorted
An alluring flow of aromatic decay
Summoning me as those debts have to be repaid
I’m unable to appeal to their kindness or grace
My soul sold for the mere pleasure of it all
In shame and horror I hide my face

Their voices echo through the recess of my memory
An angst of persecution in their speech
I can feel their judging eyes like thorns in my pupils
No matter how far I run, I can feel their reach
Upon my ruins they’ll claim their victory
Closing in on me and my body siege

Their presence omnipresent and potent in all domains
I must answer the call to responsibility
Face those demons with broken and brittle means
And crawl through mud with all my ability
Until they’ve feasted and are fully satisfied
So that one day I may have tranquility

I am paying my dues for my youthful days left behind
I am coming to terms with each specter
I wrestle them one by one with wit and jocularity
I am truthful as some of them are like lie detectors
And so when I talk with them we have at it
When I take calls from those bill collectors

The pumkin lantern

Come gather round all good children
Find warm clothes stout boots and garments
All year things remained so hidden
The screams to start a racing heartbeat

Past the church yard in the mist
Whitened bones in the earth do shift
A yearly outing creaking oh so stiff
Mother said we must counter all that stuff

For a lantern we must carve
The thirtyfirst  is halloween
The biggest pumkin make a start
Scoop it out till it is clean

Fashion it with an evil gleam
Crooked teeth twisted and bent
Malevolence that must be seen
A grimace to stand your hair on end

Light it with a stumpy candle
That decapitated squash
Cast that shadow with its mantle
Alive and ready to set off

Ready to collect the bounty
Neighbours await the expected knock
Sweets and treats and such aplenty
Or plagues of ghosts will run amock

Placate the threat with charms of sugar
Send them packing turn the lantern
Pockets ever growing fuller
The little horrors and all kinds of phantoms

Spooks hang on the web of malice
Bats tangled in the hair the menace
The sugar rush the threat to combat
Children out of control and rampant

The rotten teeth the nights legacy
Reclining in the dentist chair
The light to spy each cavity
A new denture set for each to wear

A horror story to always retell
Chew on this dark moral tale
The lantern lights the last farewell
The white ghost's of the teeth that fell

Trick

White sheets, raining sweets, finger-holes for eyes.
Little steps, out with pets, door knocked surprise.

Rain mac's, candle wax, fright night parade.
Goblin hobb, graves to rob, costumes ready made.

Light dims, sharp-teeth grins, Pumpkin shadow stare
Darkness falls, doorbell calls, press me if you dare.

Open door, six or more, hands outstretched for treats.
Behind my back, in a sack, a home made head and sweets.

Out Numbered    (SP Summerscales)

Roman numerals
flash
in the violet sky
a giant hand tocks
every notch
across spent time
each cradle that rocked
has now stopped
against the scythe
sinue on bone rots
blood pool clots
through a deceased mind.

Iron railings
all rusted
and wrought
drag across the ground
tired wailing
gutteral , gutted
throat repulsive
snags an undead
sound.

Maxilla detach
as teeth gnash
to a lipless gape
maggots unlatch
hatching fast
to a buzzing escape .

Rigormortis
has risen
to stalk the living
in a stiffened stench
empty socketed skulls
of no vision
thrash in the tissue
of dead flesh.

The cold bell
of brass
tolls its chime
above a mass
of moaning
you've got to fight
for your life
against all who died

which outnumber
the living.

Walls of Smeared Oudem

I couldn’t brew a soft spot
even when the water touches the bag in the coffee pot
Never wet or soggy to loves regrets
I have no feelings
Frigid cold
weather proof
Fool proof
No fears
Spook proof
  But when the 31st comes
Around
I go and hide
From the Candyman
Flames in my eyes
Coming from the furnice in my heart
This sex is blood art
He wants my treats and will do anything to trick me
So I can lay up in the sheets
Backseat
Bench seat
Concrete
He’s a beast within a beast
He’ll even take it on my monthly
Under the twilight
He’ll suck the sin from my neck
I can’t help but to scream
Candyman
That’s twice
I hate this time of year
I tried to call for my soul to be saved
But no phone was near
A puddle full of lies I’m standing in
Sanguine brown tinged blood
Smeared across the path of escape
It was obscured by his shadow
There he was behind me
Stop!
I was tormented by red sin
Every Halloween I would let him in
Falling for his tricks in the light
He was charming
In the darkness he was the devil
I was his darling
My tongue spewed out his name Candyman
The fight couldn’t be settled between
My mind and body
I hated Halloween my flesh was a commodity for him
After that night for 30 days I wasn’t spook proof
I would contemplate emptying my mind off of the roof
For the next 331 days I would pretend my heart was a bulletproof vest and my mind i’d keep in a kennel for sanity
     Because
Every time I sat down at my vanity
I would see the reflection of hell in my eyes
My mouth whispering
Ears,
It’s just a matter of time
Before you become a sacrifice again
Covered in Oudem

All Hallows' Even

sinister stirrings when demons attack
bitting, clawing, thrashing, killing
they find an unwilling host and begin to terrorize
his hand's their devices of torture

an unsuspecting victim they have in mind for torment
the ghoul follows his prize closely
through the eyes of their minion, they watch intently
blonde little cutie with a round ass
they want to taste her terror

she glances innocently behind her
not knowing she is being followed
all hallows eve while the moon is round
she is taken back to his dungeon

the demons have groomed him for years
whispering in his ears ideas most foul
pushing him to his limits
then rewarding him with sexual pleasures
not known to most mortals

he is automaton for their most wicked desires
he binds her to a post and removes her clothing
the demons moan while eyeing her

big blue eyes gaze at her instruments of torture
begging for mercy...the demons give none
they feed off her fear...a delicacy
her tears wine...a feast for devils

they bite, tear, slash
their horror connects with her soul
then demonkind storm her inner sanctum
flooding her with demon dog seed most foul

her eyes roll back and she smiles evilly
they are now in control of her body
a demoness of the dark
stalking the night eternally

beware they are on the hunt
with more victims to possess
and more screams to devour

on All Hallows' Even
