Halloween Queens

Where shadows find a peaceful home
to twist through frightful trees.
There spirits evil likely roams
who stirs the icy breeze.
Forms silhouette the pale night sun
and steal a stray moonbeam.
Anticipating this journey done
they sing and laugh and scream.
A starry map to be their guide
like a snow flaked pool of pitch.
Joined with others along the ride
are pets as such each witch.
Creepy spider, screechy bat
and bumpy wart filled toad.
A clawing hissing inky cat
on the back of brooms they rode.
Jack-o-lanterns circle round
a sacred clearing in the woods.
Sisters one by one touch the ground
near poison hemlock stood.
More and more came devil brides
in black leather, silks and lace.
To join with covens nationwide
around a cauldron they embraced.
The fire stoked they cast their spell
conjured potions and a charm.
Made a vile brew in taste and smell
like the dew of underarm.
For once a year once a night
once the dawn has come.
They’re once again out of sight
at once there where they’re from.
Innocent youth find them out
donned in mask and dress disguised.
Summon with the words they shout
nay witch shall be surprised.
Tis a Halloweens trick or treat
that hangs thick with magic air.
Feast well the sour and the sweet
and expect a little scare.
