EQUINOX

When her grandfather
was chief elder,
and blessed his granddaughter,
held high in offering,
spirit voices
of the seven caves
could still be heard
echoing
through the canyon.

Beyond desert yucca stalks,
from pine pitch torches,
moon besets
Scorpio's firebrands
o'er the priestess,
who's onyx eyes blaze,
of what she will consume
and may destroy,
Yellow Woman & Black Panther.

Elder sibling to the Jaguar,
only she remains
from the heresy of its wisdom
on this night of the equinox,
when waters of Pueblo Mesa
spring forth, to flow
and part the cliffs,
to reclaim, to scatter
rattlers from their mounds.

With memories intact,
of those now gone,
on ghost winds of sky riders
generations before,
and the updrafts that carry
kachina prayers & offerings
on their breath
amid sweet cedar smoke
of mesquite sap
and rendered fat.

Her bronze hands filled
with indigo berries of woodbine,
touching the four corners,
the green pain of flint & flesh,
of Red Clay Daughter
and Black Earth Mother,
invoking peyote spells
among the ruins
and the silent Joshua.

LUPUS ANIMA

Beset by melancholy
chilled to the bone
alone he trudges
ever higher
on the remote mountain trail

Wishing instead
to be laying next to her
their naked bodies pressed
in warm, euphoric embrace
measureless love forces his exile

His pale complexion glows
illuminated by the moon
full and ascending rapidly
in the clear Autumn sky
he trembles neath the beaming visage

Exhausted body and soul
he curls up under a majestic pine
dreading the rising tide of transformation
eyes shut tightly yearning for sleep
knowing tonight there will be none

Excruciating cries-turned-howls
shatter the nocturnal calm cursing heaven
tufts of dark gray fur erupt through skin
sharp fangs rupture tender gums
eviscerating claws sprout from hands-cum-paws

Awakened by the stench of rotting refuse
he lay bare naked and shivering
prostrate on the alley’s frigid pavement
the sweet perfume of his beloved penetrates the stink
clenched fist reveals bloodied, shredded lace

Bitterly he weeps

Ah, the winds of change
have now begun again
as is tradition.

For enter comes
from whence they’re from
two members of the night,
who bring in their flight
the magic of
their scribed submissions!

I receive
from our sister Grace
of exotic form & face,
and no less,
from our brother
Gahddess,
gifts from the quill.

So now begins the start
of this event, if ye will !

Autumn House

They rattle through this house of olde,
The echoed calls through arteries.
The lab’rinth leading from its bowels,
The iron heating in the core
Where beats its heart now long gone cold.

But as the autumn and the rain
Is rolling through and sinking in
To claim the rafters and the walls,
Was how the rattle came to be,
The autumn whis’ling down the halls.

But what of all the guests now gone
When holidays would welcome them
To sample of its luxuries?
The strolls through gardens manicured,
The games played on the emerald lawn.

Then came the evenings' dining fare
Of duck and quall and Guinea fowl,
The roasts of beef with tarragon.
The pastries afterwards with fruit,
And coffee served with crème Brule.

The old house in its heyday then,
It seems forever and a day
With no one left that lived here when
Who told their families and their friends
To come and visit them to stay.

And so they did, they flocked to see
The regal house that seemed to have
What everybody longed to know,
The way a proper place could be
To everyone from everywhere.

But now the parties' faded charms;
The clink of crystal stemware toasts,
The lilting laugh of meeting one
Whose visit was their first time here,
Whose host would take them in their arms.

And so it was back in the day.
The swirling couples danced till dawn
As music took them by the hand
To guide them up the golden stairs
While others stayed out on the lawn.

The locals speak of times like these
And wonder where they all had gone.
Those lovers in their tux and gowns,
The lilies gilded with such care
With stickpin pearls' glint in their hair.

I too myself do often miss
When I was lulled in my first tryst.
Right there, he met me by the newel,
And found I was too young for him,
Too young for me yet to be kissed.

It comes to me in saddened veil
The reason why I came and stayed.
For suitors and their challenges
Took down the boy I stayed chaste for,
Who died but watches over me.

In stocking feet, the rooms I roam.
There's no one else who knows I'm here,
Or knows as I do where they are;
The bones that rattle from the halls,
Where we have called this house our home.

Curse of Hammurabi

Intensity surrounds this place
Discomfort that I can’t define
An aura that is borne of hate
A loathsome, vile demonic shrine

Nefarious filth linger here
Where decent folk can’t bear to tread
I'm terrorized by coffin’s bier
Or, is that just a desk, instead?

An evil minion rooks my fate—
Invoking Curse of Hammurabi
Intimidating as I wait
In line here, in my bank branch lobby!

School Of Equinox ( Pagan / Wieckaan Version )

For Us There Is No Hallow's Eve

Yet A Samhain Pronounced Sowen

This All Know Who Are Of Our Kind

Unless One Chose To Be A Cowan

And As A Spell Is Not A Spell If One

Can Not Spell Correctly Or Stir A Cauldron

One With Other Energy Collectively ,

All Irregardless Of Our Cone Of Power

Pulled And Raised From Earth In The Hour

When Most Humans Sleep Or Hide And Cower

While We Circle And Then Charge Four Towers

Or At The Crossroads Merry Meet , Merry Part

With Altered Minds And Our Joyful Hearts

And Honor Our Ancient Ancestral Past

From The First Of The Witches To The Last

And The Thinning Of The Veil And World Walls

Answer To Our Intent Web Bent And Our Calls

And In Sacred Space Our Thoughts Elemental

May Be Quite Loving Or Not Quite So Gentle

There is no judgement, within
unseen walls,
of the practitioner’s Art.

The potency of all spells
read in here
are null & void from the start.

It matters not the spelling,
but what is
spoken, clearly, from the heart.

Let it be known by all, that
here, BlackWolf,
is received with warm intent.

A Perfect Gentleman

It wasn't anything I thought would be
The first time that we met
When Spring caressed the blooms & budding tree,
When I felt so alive, and yet

The way it was as he came down the street,
I held my beating breath,
The jacaranda petals 'neath my feet
Foretold a distant time, of death.

'Twas when he stepped before me, it was plain.
He took me by surprise,
But not just with a waist coat, gloves & cane;
Was that a smile behind those eyes?

A subtle manner equal to its bliss
That took my hand in flight.
His lips, to bow, to meet it with a kiss
And sudden brought the callous night.

Who's whispers of his voice became a roar
Within my startled head,
That dominated ev'rywhere it tore;
'Twas like the devil, from the dead.

And deepest depths he took me 'low my will,
To breach my ev'ry ban
That woke me where I endless slept, and still
He was a perfect gentleman.

The days, unknowing harbingers of night,
That hide the tales of solstice in their keep.
So let ye poets’ darkness see the light,
To guide us to the knowledge hidden deep.
