Once there was You

Once there was you
with a face and a name
words in thoughts expressed
tattooed thunderously on falling rain
your thoughts were real

once there were footsteps
together imprinted on the sand
when the glass broke
drizzles from rainbows
blurred the trails

once there were promises
whispered in the wind
nothing changed
but the You had gone
disappearing in the mists
of empty dreams.

Number One, Live Grenades and Fertility Bombs

"Your always my number one." I says as he grins and shakes his head.
"Thats what you tell all the men as they light your cigarettes and hope you make their beds." He says to me.
Never skip a beat...
"Do I not always end up back at one?" Tis my response.
Familiar dialect, we knows it word for word.
"Thats what you tell all the men as you leave them alone in bed."
"What are you saying?" I ask all ready awaiting reply I know.
"Live grenades, locked and loaded AK need I say more?"
I smirk...
"Awww are you jealous?" I tease
He pulls me to him....
"Wench remind me to tell you the game we played, me and Julie back on base when things were slow."
"I think you wrote it once, game of numbers, you were one?"
I grin, knowing where this is leading again.
He whispers in me ear this time...
"Involved a cigarette, a rubberband and a live grenade."
"Sounds like danger." I continue the tease.
"Like you?" He says as his eyes beam grins.
Punch him
He fakes pain...
Makes a big production of it
"How am I dangerous?" I say puzzled, not the usual guidelines...
"Fertility Bomb, whiskey soaked wench, a live grenade that I just may be willing to throw." He laughs maniacally at the way my mouth laid ajar at a loss for words.
I laugh...
"Only if you explode with me!" I tease.
"Love I'll assure you never forget who's number one."
Pulls me in his arms, to talk without words in familiar dialect.

Moments of gold

Moments of Gold

Waking in the middle of the night,
Finding you cuddled against my back;
I rolled over,
To cuddle you in my arms.

Coming home from work to,
You dressed in,
Well,
You;
A perfect way to forget,
A killer day.

Stepping out of the shower,
Freshly shaved,
Your arms, wrapping around me,
As you rub me dry with,
A towel,
Warmed with your scent.

Finding a package,
On my desk at my office,
Waiting for me,
With a note,
“These will match mine,
Be wearing them when you get home tonight”;
I opened the package to find,
A man's black,
Thong,
With a red heart,
Embroidered on the front.

Having just dropped,
My robe,
To dress,
When your hands,
Caressed their way,
Around my hips,
And began to,
Play with me.

Receiving
Flowers at work,
In front of my co-workers,
With a completely,
Thoroughly,
Dirty card attached,
Describing,
In glorious detail,
The birthday gift,
I would receive upon arriving home,
That evening.

After dinner,
You were putting dishes,
In the sink,
Bent over the counter,
Showing nothing,
Under your skirt,
But you,
Sliding your feet, legs apart,
And saying,
“Well?”

On the couch,
At the end of the movie,
Your head in my lap,
You rolled over,
And pulled my zipper down.

Walking down the street,
My arm around your waist,
You whispered in my ear,
“Lower,
Move you hand lower”.

Coming out of the dressing room,
At the vacation condo pool,
Find you alone in the pool,
And then discovering that you were,
Skinny dipping.

We had to be at your boss’ house for,
Holiday party;
When you looked at me,
And said,
“We have to leave in 10 minutes,
Is that enough time?”

You said,
“Honey, put down the paper,
There is something,
That I want to show you”;
You were completely nude,
With a red lipstick arrow,
Pointing down your stomach,
Disappearing between your thighs,
Inscribed with the words,
“Kiss here”.

We’d been out to dinner,
Then a concert,
Followed by a reception with the musicians,
As we walked back to the car,
You whispered in my ear,
“I’m not wearing any,
Underwear.”

Moments of gold,
That have bound us together.

Your attention to me,
Has made my moments of,
At best,
Silver,
For you,
Pale in comparison,
To yours,
Of the brightest gold.

Happy valentine’s day.

Moment In Time

there’s nobody left to blame
we just ran out of feeling
the impossible became possible
the tears have all dried
you were my desire plateau
my raven in flight
we came out of nowhere
we crashed but didn’t burn
let’s celebrate the highs
there’s to many to count
a beautiful love affair
a moment in time…

Preps Stop Prospering In Their 30s

That coral shirt is
a pantone palette applied
(brings out your eyes)
paired & fulfilled in suited
pastel
planted prudently on your creamy
puka-shell skin

Massaging a strong dark neck
dewed in beading nodes of sweat
You have
nervous slips of ticks
tipping us all off
Especially,
considering you've hardly sipped
that stout ...
it's probably too thick
too rich
for you

Pulling polite pins
in such mild manners
that
I swear to God
have never
exploded open artful conversations
ever

Babe, please
order something with more grenadine
& leave the big girls
to toss our engaging lingual
grenades

Real encounters at the bar.

Quiet Moments

The wind tangling itself within your long hair
And that smile etched across your face as you
Were watching the sunset, lost in a prayer.
All I could do was to look on from the pew
As this is your temple. Your laughter echoing
Down the hallways as I go after you, wishing
That you were more than a photo yellowing
And burning in my back pocket. I was fishing
For and hanging onto more than just that
One memory. I wanted a thousand more
Not fading away with your tears not flat
Against the pavement as it was all before
You turned to walk away from me one
Last time. Moments we cannot outrun.

Awoken (early moring craving)

Awake
 in cold and lonely breeze
Alone
 in bed covered by sheets
Eyes are open, yet fail to see;

comfort of this cradle
support of cottoned pillow

'Tis a shame I lay as corpse
Accompanying
Its cushioned mattress
Their softness no use
With single body's heat to warm

Feet are shivering
Frozen in time of Fall's air
Calmness of chamber only amplifies
Saddens mine hollow heart
Drowns mind to deepen a reminder;

No one to wake up to
Come face to face
Not another's heat of breath
to breathe in....

taste

I savor my own
Overwhelmed with longing
Too aware and realize:

My soul's only presence

I close my eyes and close the thoughts
Return to bitter sleep..

Slumber in pain of lonely daylight

Blue Lungs

His fingers
Ghosted the wound on my leg
From where I sat on the kitchen counter
Blue light filtering through
The windows
Dramatizing his cheekbones
And the sharpness of his jaw
The shadows of the evening dusk
Staining the room and his skin indigo

He unwrapped the
Coarsely done bandage, catching my gaze
As his hand came to rest on my inner thigh
His lips around a whiskey bottle
His irises flicking to the bullet wound
His hands travelling up my legs, to my waist
Before leaning to my ear, lips brushing my jaw
"Breathe,"
He trickled the golden alcohol
Onto the source of the the streaks of blood
And my hands fisted
In his hair and jacket

Gentle, using an old shirt to rewrap the angry injury
He slipped his hands under me to pick me up, halting only
When I murmured for him to wait
I pulled him close, still clutching him desperately from the pain
And breathed into his neck,
Feeling myself shatter as sobs broke
From my chest

Where he stayed and embraced me
In his arms
As the light turned from blues, to violets, and finally, to black.

Hotel

(Trying to be quiet
While everyone sleeps
In the midst of twilight)

Getting out of bed
To have some time to myself
To get a last peak at this soon to be nostalgic view

Wondering where all these motorists are going
So early in the morning
Wondering am I doing this because I'm lonely?

Giving myself five more minutes
Since we all gotta get up soon
Window drips
And morning dew
