Stasis In the Cards

It happens to the best of us. At least you can write even if your muse is silent. I wish I could do this. But that's where a real poet like you excels. I watch you and I am in silent veneration because you are a great poet and I learn something new every time I read you.

Thank you J.  I have been writing much that I quickly delete.  I can't say how much your opinion means to me, a poet of your caliber.  I may well leave this posted, with my gratitude to you.

I keep telling myself I may need to take a break but keep coming back, almost daily.  What I end up posting varies so much in quality and, if I'm stuck, it's in the trap of rhythm and rhyme.  You're one of the poets I admire here the most.  No traps for you, dear Devlin.  Thank you!

I enjoyed this and you have expressed my frustration well. I end up just "tapping drivel at the keys" in hopes thats the exit. Nice job Crow.

In my case it's a compulsion, and the results are likely mixed.  At times I'm tempted just to hang it up, but I'm hooked on DUP, it seems.  Thank you for the kind response!

It blows my mind, how even your distress about not being able to write reveals such a truly gifted poet. I know you feel like it's a trap, but I so envy your rhythm and rhyme. Enjoy the poet that you are.... the rest of us certainly do!

Thank you brokentitanium.  I try to mix it up these days, not be too reliant on the rhythm and rhyme, but both are so hard to resist.  "Compulsive rhyming syndrome."  That's me, usually.  Thank you for the comment!

... sounds like you write directly onto the computer ?  
Thinking out loud here ... Writing on paper produces quite a different experience, partly because crossed-out words are still visible (unlike totally deleted on a computer) and their albeit dismissed presence still stirs new ideas. The history of one's attempted write still lies before one's eyes in its totality and sparks a different perspective on what's been written. Just a thought.

I actually write on paper before I hit the keys.  Then come extensive revisions.  Thank you, Josh.  I just hope this didn't mislead too much.

That's good to know. Writing on paper first opens up better possibilities.

Crow.. all ink spillers, worry about the block.. all we can do is keep ripping away.. been tapping, drivel lately.. I just keep focusing on ideas.. it'll sort it's self out.. into the list it goes.. much respect..
