Winter Poems
#winter
Winter poems about the coldest season of the year, December to February in the northern hemisphere and June to August in the southern hemisphere. Winter brings short dark days and stillness, as nature sleeps. Here you'll find poems about the beauty of the winter months, and also poems about dealing with cold and challenging weather.
La Sagesse de L'Hiver***
Winter is the season
of the soul
when barren Earth above
forges its perfect disguise
Raw winds blow
through crack
and seam
exposing all flaws
Tis here and now
that I withdraw
draw within
towards inner truth
Casting aside
naïve spring
summer hubris
autumnal fear
Till all that dares
remain
all that does abide
a barest wisdom
*** Winter's Wisdom
of the soul
when barren Earth above
forges its perfect disguise
Raw winds blow
through crack
and seam
exposing all flaws
Tis here and now
that I withdraw
draw within
towards inner truth
Casting aside
naïve spring
summer hubris
autumnal fear
Till all that dares
remain
all that does abide
a barest wisdom
*** Winter's Wisdom

only job I had with time to think ..
spent a couple of months one winter
just sweeping the roads -
she said, have you no ambition ?
I said, well, yeah, clean roads ..

winter song
into the bright blue
into the clear light
and beyond that
into the white
into the night
she stole
to retrieve the love
she had thrown away
blown by a guiding wind
the coldness in the air
an icy compass
like
silence
after words
covering ground
in fresh snow
footsteps
sparkling winter whispers
a crystal song
singing welcome home
into the clear light
and beyond that
into the white

she stole

Words have a NATURE that can be chilling, thrilling revealing some what appealing in a motion and manner
Blankets banner cold current affairs
Like a polar bear stares Who the Hell cares?
Jack Frost bites insights
Winter winds Whispers to pine tree friends What has a beginning must have a end
Winter enters like a seasonal house renter
Words Ski lift a emotional heart felt gift
While kind words exchanged for a smile
Fine as a mist drawn from self-consciousness that freezes a KNOW

Here There Everywhere
December is my month
Cold and bitter she may come
I am happy and warm
December is my month
Chilled she will have you
Me
I will have you toasty
Wrapped up and guarded
December makes you
Open and wild I make you
Frosted lips frosted nose
Cold and wrapped up
I make a fire so warm that you instantly relax
Warm and safe I will provide for you
June is your month
Hot and sexy
Bodies lusting
Hormones rising
You
Warm blooded and sweet
Lips like Nights so cool
Gives me chills ...

Once
once I beat a boy
but I've done it before
the stench of his brown skin crackles
against mine
snot bubbles blossom
where he waters his cheeks
I'm going to work with his father
I know he loves him
and hates me
his father's belt
This was the first exercise I tried by Taylor Mali: Using the two poems below as examples, write a similar short poem that begins with the word “Once” and ends with the speaker of the poem admitting or confessing or maybe suddenly realizing that he or she or it has become an inanimate object like a flower or a...

The Other F-Word
This morning in mourning
As the sun warms, slowly rising
Rays glisten against the crystals
Clumped up molecular holdings
Desperately forming life
The first bite of Winter’s Frost
Coating blades of grass and rooftops
The leaves are gracefully falling
Without even a breeze
They end their life now willingly
As they make the plunge to their earthly grave
Permanent home of season’s ending
Can’t help but hear what they have to say
Autumn's voice crinkling and crunching underfoot
Winter is...

Drifter
In one's own head as long as one could remember;
one's locked away vomiting what's been internalized;
almost everyday seems like winter;
questioning one's own being

Crab trees
Crab apples,ripening today
shine in September sun
tempting impatient pigeons ,
lashed by sudden autumn rain.
They have no names,
bought from a supermarket
smothered in a plastic bag.
Saturday,afternoon, half price
a quid and almost dead,
shriveled roots and leafless,
soaked them in a bucket,
love to keep them 'live.
Winter through they glow
paying back their debt with
breakfasts...

Chirk Castle
I returned to the castle garden,
the day calm and still
above, clouds heavy, rain cold
as summer showers can be.
She stood as last year
poised in naked dignity.
Hello proud beauty
do you remember me last year?
I did not ask your name,
you never asked me mine,
I dreamed you leaning over me
did I really kiss your breasts
not knowing who you are?
Please tell me who are you
did you come from Rome
to stand the English winters?
I only visit here in summer,
yet...
