An Atmospheric River
It's never too soon on days like today
to energize all of the party lights
and watch the lingering leaves blow away
in vortical El Nino flights...
where, in with the fresh air and rain,
spins new activity of thought
unwinding that twist in my brain
which the Halloween candy had brought.
So now I watch the clouds come and go,
like kisses supplying anew,
the reasons for the future to grow
even when skies are no longer blue...
but tinged here and there with an evening...

Burial
The light
reflects off the concrete,
onto the undercarriage
of a shuttlecock fern,
pond drippings play Fs and G minors
a rose reaches,
smattered in thorns,
to become celestial,
a part of the constellation
it's ever denied.
Stars do not grace us,
muddied , encased in an overcast scene.
Loose strife continues,
unyielding to wind
nor to rain
nor to the decaying that continues,
relentless within her marrow.
A mirrorball catches shadows,
and the sky, she rains
as if bereft or relinquishing,
or...

both Derek
and Maggie looked
around and made sure
that no one else was there,
they stripped down and got into
the water only to have them
hear someone say "wait" which made them turn
around and see Sally standing on the
shore with a pair of towels and saying
"My dad saw what you were doing. You
guys need to get out of there and
dressed right now." only to have
Derek and Maggie laugh
and invite Sally
to join them in
the water
for a
swim.
