Hibiscus Tea
Pregnant hours
alone
resting in the sun
awaiting the transformation
Crystal water begins
to dye
a faint raspberry hue
cloud swirls in slow motion
Descending downward
from the five little bags
containing
lovingly crushed petals
All the while I
wait
contemplate
the first virginal sip
Till at last I pour it
over crushed ice
savoring the nice
pink puckering sip
alone
resting in the sun
awaiting the transformation
Crystal water begins
to dye
a faint raspberry hue
cloud swirls in slow motion
Descending downward
from the five little bags
containing
lovingly crushed petals
All the while I
wait
contemplate
the first virginal sip
Till at last I pour it
over crushed ice
savoring the nice
pink puckering sip

Tea (Day 25)
There is no drink that I turn to
as I do with Tea,
as it is the one drink
that I put more faith in than any other.
I do drink coffee sometimes
and enjoy soft drinks such as coke,
squash, milk,
the necessity for life that is water;
but only Tea to me makes that life worthwhile.
It fuelled an empire
humbled countries and continents,
and is a clear sign of British-ness;
with milk of course,
and personal preference is mug rather than cup
a strong brew that is hearty
not insipid gnats pee.

Honey Tea
Afternoon.
Nothing much,
But how are you so?
It’s wonderful,
Your tragic times are under.
How am I?
Well I’m waiting,
Like one does so.
Before the water bubbles up,
I remember when the lonely blossom said:
I wasn’t sure what to do,
When you smiled at me too soon,
Buzzin’ like the thunder brewed.
You knew that I couldn’t run,
I pleaded you wouldn’t so.
But once your lips left my own,
The tears rolled off my petals.
The tears like honey petals.
The tears like honey...
Nothing much,
But how are you so?
It’s wonderful,
Your tragic times are under.
How am I?
Well I’m waiting,
Like one does so.
Before the water bubbles up,

my nan put whisky in her tea
in the eighteenth century
coffee houses were known
for their conversation, although
later on it was all froth
whereas today it's simply:
would you like to upgrade to our
smooth black eye bean
tending to stay in the pub ..

aged around nineteen I would walk the streets
in bare feet
from where you sat

Pharmaceutical Recall
P'ill sorters ready?
.........P-ill......p-ill.....p-ill.....
the capital case of
"how many billion(s)
wee talkin'bout here?"
capital case.....capital offense....tie them gallows neck ties,
tied tight for just ice
justice.
My name's engraved upon hospital wall & found its way to a toilet stall
stashed in the super sub-basement, way down, where even the
Storm Troopers go...

sweet revenge
Revenge of sort
The old ship has four cranes for loading
Also, unlading has anchored in
the bay
For four days.
It must be hot all portholes are open and the cook
Sweats in the galley it drips onto the dough
Moreover, into the food, cooks transpire a lot and it
Has to go somewhere.
They call him a fool but eat his sweat a sweet
Revenge a secret he keeps to himself.
The crew pick rust and paint a little but most
Of the time they sit in the mess hall waiting for
Something to eat.

a conceited restaurant
A conceited restaurant
After the health clinic visit in Cascais
We had lunch at a restaurant nearby
Where the outdoor market is
It was overpriced and pretentious
The food, so and so.
Had a glass of wine it was undrinkable
Had a cold bottle of water instead.
There are many proper small restaurants
In Cascais, they appear not to be
Near the centre.
A few days ago, near the post office, we had
Splendid meal and it was reasonably priced
With not too many tables and people I have
fear of crowds this inane nattering...

supermarket blue
Supermarket blue
After a splendid lunch of goat chops
With salad, my mood was dreamingly contented
To she got the idea of going to a big supermarket
Except for vegetable, fruit, meat and fish
I trapesed miles after miles in this insanity
Of trashy food, sugary food and horrendous
soft drinks laden with sugar,
Also, the juice that said zero had a sign telling
Me that sugar had been added.
Went outside no bench provided nor inside
You are not supposed to sit down, but shop!

the best of food
Favourite food
The food I like is meat especially pork
Cooked till the bones part from the flesh
Served with cabbage, carrots and spuds
Cooked together with the pork
I never order beef because I dislike chewing
As it is usually an ordeal.
However, I like liver cooked the same way as
The pork, fish too if it is free of the annoying
Little spiny bones which are an appetite killer.
Meat cakes in brown gravy are my Sunday roast
I have a simple taste in food
Like poetry that is not full of fancy words
Showing how erudite the...

TEACH ME TO FISH
The voice of the poor
craving to my head.
from the depth of great despair
he pours out his heart.
Give me little sugar for my tea.
I dont want no cake
unless i be unwise and fake.
I want to earn my take
that I may some impact in life do make.
I pray for you to hear my plea,
kindly make a poor brother glee.
I don't want no cake
just a sugar for my tea
is all I ask with a plea.
Life is more than eyes can see,
likewise is tomorrow a mystery.
You never know what may eventually
come to be. ...

at the bloody awful café ..
new chap in the café says,
"would you mind if I looked at the menu .."
I handed him the menu ..
he looks for a while, and then he says,
"I think I'll just have a cup of tea .."
I say, good idea,
there's a place I know
in the city ..
