The Empty Teacup
The red pen
Flew from my hand
Leaking, inky words
Upon virgin vellum
Pirouetting inspiration
Spiralling, then swirling
Into an empty teacup
Apart from the leaves
That no longer
Had any tale, to tell
As they lay scattered
Like a confusion of words
That lay speechless
Hanging on the edge of an empty void
Like dry lips
Parched, and pursed
As an overused teabag

the stealing
The Stealing
A big black bike, with frugal rubber tires
and an old-fashioned handlebar,
is leaning against a whitewashed wall,
this morning.
Someone had nicked it on the way from
the bar last night:
so, the thief lives in one of the stone cottages
around here.
The bike looks catholic,
isn’t telling,
made of hollow steel tubes, chains and rubber
it really doesn’t care who rides it.
It didn’t use to be like this, years ago
I often found a donkey grazing outside
the houses seemed to be an everyday thing, ...

An Ode To The First Sip
Libation; to that word I make a toast
From sorrow, grave, to jocularity
I raise my glass towards my gracious host
And take my first great sip of scalding tea
The anodyne to all my earthly woes
And though I sup of coffee time to time
I gulp its healing nectar and compose
My head and heart to make another rhyme
From sorrow, grave, to jocularity
I raise my glass towards my gracious host
And take my first great sip of scalding tea
The anodyne to all my earthly woes
And though I sup of coffee time to time
I gulp its healing nectar and compose
My head and heart to make another rhyme

Genmaicha, Green & Tea
The old metal pot whistles an eerie pitch
one that forces my thoughts to an ancient

my present Hawaiian Geisha who tips
and toes a line of devoted love not felt
by my spirit for many decades.
The steam escaping the pot lets me know
it beckons me to pour the heated fluid into
the ceremonial pot prior to traditional

Comfortable with Silence
I’m my own man
understated
elegant in a rough way
a cup of black tea
in a coffee frenzied rush hour
not a pretty boy
I don’t do things to be different
I am different
if you’re looking for cool
look elsewhere
I’m pleated pants
in flat front chino land
no validation needed
comfortable with silence
wearing a 1950 black Omega Seamaster
wind up baby

Wigwam
To much tea
Lots to pee
'To pee, or not to pee!'
I call this
My wigwam moment
Aka teapee

I can’t wait to feel it
The cuts on my thighs
They make an impressive weapon
I’ll shoot it every day
It’s my mind
My treasure chest
What I want
Unconventional
Highs upon my chest
Will they grow or shrink?
I don’t really care
Just give me the T
I sip it black
No sugar please
The milk has gone bad
There are no more eggs

They make an impressive weapon
I’ll shoot it every day

Insomnia Sonnet
Do you think, then, that a tea is the most suitable?
Would it quickly calm your anxieties?!
And you could throw your shudders of fear to the ground!
The wings of thought would carry you on the breeze.
Do you think, then, that there would be no repentance?
That the waters would stop running under the bridge?!
That all the sails would thus gather to the pier!
And the siren would sing her charms through the night.
You brought with you the key to destiny...
You broke the lock of dreams so finely
that all silk seems to tear when you...

Catacombs and Black Tea
Always amazed by the sounds of sex
The guttural sound when I ejaculate thinking of you
Then it's back to the catacombs to drink black tea
Scribing my verse
Drawing landscapes for the depraved

Then it's back to the catacombs to drink black tea
Scribing my verse

And this just fell out of my keyboard
Something inside says I should write.
Maybe something
grand and bombastic
radiant like the sun,
proclaiming my return
from self-imposed exile
Or maybe a rage,
rage against the current world
But I find myself too content to rage
The distanced contentment
of tending a garden in England
while elsewhere in the world scrabble to simply survive
Because fuck it,
my words are garbled
and conveying is so bloody hard,
Just longing for that time when a love
stops me mid-waffle
and says ...

Tea
A chance to sit
with a cup of tea,
beside the windowpane;
Watching as
the grey clouds roll,
and begin to rain.
