Take me Out To

Every year I’d get excited for April
not for National Poetry month, but
for Baseball!  
My Mom loved watching her team
on the big television screen &
I loved watching any team play
with her.
Mom’s San Diego Padres
are really good this year;
she’s not going to get to see
any games.
I may not watch a single game
this year as I can’t hold back
my  tears
because it was “ our thing “
and she’s not around anymore.

Well, at least there’s no song
to trigger me,...
