Frosty Autumn Leaves
In our minds your memory burns bright
Gone too soon, laid to rest, eternally
The autumn leaves and frost
Decorate your absence
Memories of happiness
Memories of love
Long, winding roads led you home
Led us on different paths
Tangled like branches

Promises to Keep
I. December
The clouds came over the valley,
Bringing the much needed winter rain,
And though we needed it so badly,
I didn’t realize the conditions sadly,
Would also bring me a bit of pain.
The path between the mountains
Had been closed due to snow,
And so I found myself surrounded,
By weary travelers also grounded,
Who had to wait until tomorrow.
But I had made a promise to my son,
That I would there in the morning,
Some of them turned back one by one,
But I could not sit still or wait for the sun ...

Snapshot
First snowfall 2021
Window panes of glass
bend evening's light
transforming an espresso landscape
into snowflaked obsidian—
a phenocryst crystal, reflecting
a solitary soloist perched
on a shivering pin oak's limb
No bigger than my palm
its shrill organ penetrates
a Universe of soft silence
despite the absence
of light or warmth
'And I think to myself,
What a Wonderful World'

Summer Rides This Last Cloud
I've spent the morning chipping ice
It's come so early I fear
And you know the contradictions
it's so much worse this year
I've claimed my passion for the night
but I never meant it to be cold
Not like this, a wintry kiss
feeling me numb in its hold
Not the numb of an afterglow
but the dead inside feeling
It freezes as it steals the heat
flourishing from its killing
I beg each night in a row
Tomorrow, just be warm
But tonight the chill evident
wintry eyes from a storm

Leaf Cadavers
The driving miniscule flakes of snow.
Confim the world is a shaken globe.
Dark brown leaf cadavers can still be seen.
Crumbled in death poking through the newborn powder.
The haunted silence is even louder.
Life touching death, unusually serene.
Ghosts of autumn yearn for snowy winter
For a short while, the white world is void of the sinister.
The wind inhales a frozen breath.

Free fall
Oh my goodness! I am falling!
Nothing to grab hold on
Petrified with fear
I close my eyes
Mother why did you let me go of?
Zero gravity
No more free falling
But lightweighted floating
I am dancing gracefully
Pirouetting like a ballerina
In my hectagon tutu
Far below
My brothers and sisters
Cover the ground with a

I will come and join you!

Yukon Surreal
Yukon Surreal
Meringue snow
Where stunted pine
Awakens in Cimmerian quiet
To misty-eyed earth
Whose fogbound dream
Could be a barren Scottish highland
Where bagpipes echo
But our Yukon land
A burial ground
Marked by totem poles
To remember lost seasons
When eagle and hawk tribes
Found the path of peace

Snow Day
the snow is frigid
and the car won't start
I slipped and fell
sorry, not sorry to say
guess I'll have to call off work
you know it's those little miracles
when we're on the couch
drinking hot cocoa in our pajamas
and im just thinking
what's inside your head?
I want it to dig in me
like a blade
can I take a moment
to say I'm so glad
we are here doing nothing at all
gives me time to show
that I haven't forgotten you
sometimes my head gets filled with nonsense
but it's your love I thrive for ...

Waking up to a day that's no different
Feels like just a simple Sunday
February is just so irrelevant
No words to inspire to express or say
"Only rain, ice, snow I hope cause no accident"

While the world seems to not care for today
The reason for what it is

All indoors all prefer to stay
