There’s a Dog snoring (NaPoWriMo 3)
There’s a Dog snoring in my room.
Well,
the room for me as a guest.
The fold-out bed
goes where she is sleeping
so I’ll let her snore some more
And move her when she wakes up.
There’s a Dog snoring in the room.
Well,
Snoring and snorting
in the same tone
as my Grandma used to make.
There’s a Dog snoring in this room.
And I’m using the time
to write a poem
As it would be cruel to wake her,
And anyway,
I get the giggles listening to snoring.
Something about hearing sleep enjoyed ...

he always kept his head
he always wore a trilby and
a raincoat whatever the weather
was appalling
that morning he kept his trilby and
his raincoat on in bed ..

Dream Waves
Little water drops
Drip from the faucet
Tapping on the metal below
A sound like clockwork
Never off rhythm
My eyes closed
Other senses sensitive
Soft pillow
Entranced by the water drops
Time slows down
Become entwined in a dream
Hypnosis
Brain dance waterfalls
Twin hydrogen shades
Visible flow of oxygen
Silk laced waves collide
The moon smiles down
Barely awake eyes greet the blaring morning sun
Groggy motions wrestling gravity
A quick moment to try and remember
Something...

One Dream With A Friend In It
Michael opened
his eyes and
saw himself to
be naked until a
door opened and allowed
a nude Chloe to move
closer before the alarm clock rang.

A Result Of The Night Before
Friday, Loretta
woke up and found herself in
some guy's bed and so naked.
That was before she
remembered meeting him at
a local bar Thursday night.

Rest
One more day, that's it
but I know I can't quit
I have to keep going just a bit longer
the promise of a safe haven getting stronger
my eyes feel so heavy and sad
but I know home is coming for this lad
so with a heavy sigh I pick up my soul
and push forward, time for a stroll
but I know I can't quit
I have to keep going just a bit longer
the promise of a safe haven getting stronger
my eyes feel so heavy and sad
but I know home is coming for this lad
so with a heavy sigh I pick up my soul
and push forward, time for a stroll

Women Ask Men to Scoot Over
Usually it's in bed
Reluctantly of course we move
Often we'd like to stay where we are
Men never use the word SCOOT
That's a female word all the way
I read this to her
She asks me what I'm trying to prove
I tell her I don't like the SCOOT word
How come she asks
I tell her that she's more fun close by
She's quiet for a moment
Then tells me to SCOOT
Reluctantly of course we move
Often we'd like to stay where we are
Men never use the word SCOOT
That's a female word all the way
I read this to her
She asks me what I'm trying to prove
I tell her I don't like the SCOOT word
How come she asks
I tell her that she's more fun close by
She's quiet for a moment
Then tells me to SCOOT

LULLABY
this old flesh
shivering in its bed,
seeking the
comfort
of dreams
wine is bad
for the liver,
cigarettes,
for the heart
drink your tea
and shut up
go to sleep
shivering in its bed,
seeking the
comfort
of dreams
wine is bad
for the liver,
cigarettes,
for the heart
drink your tea
and shut up
go to sleep

Swirling
These thoughts of lead
Weigh heavy on my head
Constantly firing synapses
Peace of mind collapses
Brain's going a mile a minute
Forever racing, there's no limit
Day dreaming, wide awake
Just switch off for goodness sake
A cranium full of pondering
With endless cerebral wandering
Always thinking so deep
Why can't I just fall asleep?
Weigh heavy on my head
Constantly firing synapses
Peace of mind collapses
Brain's going a mile a minute
Forever racing, there's no limit
Day dreaming, wide awake
Just switch off for goodness sake
A cranium full of pondering
With endless cerebral wandering
Always thinking so deep
Why can't I just fall asleep?

Ancestors
Dead leaves tap-dance
across pebbled pavement,
enticing a lazy day
to guard my energy,
allowing it to flow along channels
unseen by eyes that watch
gray clouds swirl into
soft, pastel hues.
Chilled fingers
grip downy blanket edges,
eyes rocking body to sleep.
The nightscape,
in languid rotation, swallows
the light, and it is here--
They speak in tongues.

Wonderland
It was night.
I was tired.
And ready to dream away.
I got under the blanket.
I laid my head on the pillow, closing my eyes.
One second,I was in my bed.
Next thing I know,I have a fuzzy feeling in my head.
I woke up in a mystical land.
Where it's colorful, and everything is bent.
Everyone was smiling unnaturally wide.
I didn't know what it meant.
I began to head inside a tunnel.
But I started to fall.
I ended up in a hallway.
The air had an odd smell.
Next to me ,a magical wishing well. ...

One to one
One to One
The bough breaks, windows wide,
feet beat concrete, your soapbox chest -
It's been sinking and rising,
the tap in you poured over,
injustice, mountains,
Jurassic Park,
the carpets and floors are blue.
Your body is enraged, visibly shakes.
And we're playing Headbanz,
you are,
for a moment,
an apple outside of time,
and I'm a toaster,
we guess blind -
like we've been doing all day.
Where will I be?
Who will I be put with?
How might it go?
For you there's no calm room,
no...
