I held you so close
Forever feeling you'd be mine
A warm fire to
Stave off the freezing rain
But oh so slowly
We drifted away
Boats listless
Lost in the raging sea
I searched for you
In the gutters of this
Suffering world
Filled with parasites and leeches
But to no avail
My dream was gone
In a whisper not quite heard
You sank into the shadows
I had to let you go
A bright fragile butterfly
Into a hurricane
Of darkness and despair
But I will always wait ...

Broken promises and lost dreams
This dead relationship that once was so sweet
Who I was then and who I am now
Have learned to reconcile as much as my heart allowed.
The past is the past; the future has yet to come
I’m feeling once again when I used to be numb

Stars fall all around
Setting the night ablaze
With mysterious golden glaze
Feel the warmth run through

He goes to the same job everyday.
He comes home to his wife every night.
They rarely touch each other.
Only on special occasions, like birthday's and Columbus Day.
There not attracted to each other anymore.
They don't make a fuss about it.
A few years back, they were fighting and swearing that they were going to leave one another.
When the fighting subsided, they both realized they were both a bunch of cowards.
Neither one had the courage to go out and meet someone else.
They don't despise one another.

It's crazy to see people begin to settle down,
it's a natural process of life
However it's just crazy when you look at people you've known forever begin to change and mature
Life has happened to everyone and
I found myself being 'the single friend'
I really didn't notice until one day, I was at a get together and I was literally the only single person there.
It didn't bother me though because I've grown really comfortable with myself.
Also seeing happy people makes me happy.
Now the thing is 'the single friend' tends to be...
