why is it that we who have no connection
with those who have the power of what
gets heard and published.
Today, we drove from Cascais to Lisbon
a drive that usually took half an hour
it took an hour more because of modern time
had upset the calculation
a modern society is measured by how many
cars are on the road at the same time
we who sit at home are in the news reminded
of this by those who call this progress
after this profound observation, the rest is
pointless history is eaten by false history
...

I May Be That Girl
I may be that disabled girl who's so sick she cannot work a normal job, but she's the artist that will save so many lives. She's the artist who knows that her art will heal herself in a way a normal job can't.
I may be that girl who was rarely ever chosen, rarely ever picked, but I know now that I will let love find me. I need many years alone. But I'm a caring individual who won't beg for love; I will things happen the way they're supposed to.

I plan to build a temple for the true outcasts.
For the hardcore skeptics,
for the potential murderers and convicts,
for the orphans and widows,
for the lonely and scared,
for the prostitutes,

The price of water
Driving down from Eyrie- I said that
to sound educated, I never had much schooling
and often feel inferior when asking for the price
of a packet of margarine
I was thinking of God's existence; is he a man
or a woman, perhaps an unfortunate person

Look To The Skies For A Chance
I can hear you pant
across the skies
hidden in your room
taking refuge
in the body
to lighten the mind
There is wisdom to be found
in that place
and yet we act in haste
the suspicions of ego
ruining a perfectly good thing
I am not immune
from destroying myself
by challenging the natural flow
of tears that are rivers
some laced with pain
and some filled with laughter

Tears of Life
All my life, I have been treated like a psychopath. An irredeemable person who deserved nothing good.
And I wonder why...I still have these tears of life. Why it seems I still care.
My teacher at 16 told me how much I didn't care about my father when he died.
I had nothing left of myself.
Then, when I fell hard for a boy, it was after that I realized I could feel all along.
And I did. I did have a heart.

in fact, 80 years ago, a war had ended
and many children went to school without
breakfast that consisted of scones
with brown goat cheese and a small bottle
of milk, there was no restriction on how
many scones we could eat

The Lizard of Misery
He had traveled long distances before going back
to when child
Stopped at what had been his parent's house
someone else lived in their flat perhaps, a child sleeps
in his bed and dream his dreams.
He was overwhelmed by a sudden sense of loss
but his childhood
had been tough, a sleeping bag as a bed
He had, as an adult, constructed his own childhood
one he came to believe and told other people over
and over again
The lizard, on his back, was set free to glue itself
in someone else's misery
