♪a white slave owner struggles to emancipate his mind♪
“A private faith that does not act in the face of oppression
is no faith at all.” —William Wilberforce
grandfather owned a thousand slaves;
now he and they sleep in their graves.
he was their master, they his knaves;
they had no rights, he had no wrongs.
how oft they sang their mournful songs,
confused by cruelties and throngs
of passions they could not resolve!
high whites, low blacks the chains involve;
short nights, lame...

Stain Upon Ugly Stain
Get off of my skin, I can't feel!
Shread the flesh from my neck
For those who embrace hate
Have painted my soul blood red
With the memory of lives that matter
And only Justice can wash away the stain
But her robes have been stripped from her body
Set afire in cities of red, white and black
The pain pours from my eyes, blinding me
Yet showing me the plain truth
Of why white must shout BLACK LIVES MATTER
Because so many still cling to a long dead past
Where they believed blacks were not people at all
So the murders...

Plastered wit priorities,
Squinting for the daylight and
ol'fashioned flashbulbs alike.
we never were who we knew we were, but
you
never settled for whatever we were, And
there'in lies the silly pity (of regret) to end
one's life in.
Can you feel joy in loss?
Of course that'd profoundly inappropriate,
and contrary to the laws of human
development.
But thy secret is safe unto me, (who knows not
what he done,

Echo
Recently voices started calling out to me
Echoes from the past that were fighting for equality
They ask “Will there ever be unity,
Or will there always be hatred toward the colored community?”
I wish that there was an answer that I could give
There’s so much going on in the time that we currently live
The hearts of many with so much angst and unrest
And there are those who don't get why we fill the need to protest
It started with slavery, that ended, but then came Jim Crow
Separate but equal is what was said but it seems it was all for show ...

am i not yet a brother in the battle,
though tempers flourish like stampeding cattle?
black my story
for your glory!
be not afraid,
love is not dead:
though rough white hands have treated me like chattel,

Stop assuming a Blacc Man is evil because he has Blacc skin Blacc as a Bruce Lee big sticc nun-chuck.
Stop assuming a Blacc Man should get arrested because he is driving a Benz or Beamer or Bentley Blacc as a brush bristle.

Free At Last...Thank God.... Nope, Still Waiting Martin
Give us war or give us peace
Does it matter who owns the lands our feet now lease
We greet with our eyes
Behind veils we mentally bow to our government’s perpetuated propaganda and wicked lies
We raise our fist to laws mandated to renounce equal rights, visions of love, a drought here on earth not deemed a necessity from above
Bullets aimed to kill without a worry or care
Colliding with the ‘bombs bursting in air’
My Fifth Amendment means nothing to me in the dark
A badge, a Taser, point blank range...
