A Suit to Kill a Bear
To beat back the bear
One must wear the fortress
Of outward iron maiden
A sneer and tortured intent
Spiking steely eyes
through triangulate of iris
Sticking through it
welling the blue
And the belladonna
Blooming through rage
like primal
feral crushing
It glows and brightens the circle
as if the whole sky were there
En masse
at large
The posse en route
Vigilante purpose violating all compact ...

Rosario Island Priestess
Rosario Island Priestess
Cape Jasmine fragrance
Following a rosary of her island magic
Led by coffee complexion bride
Of the Rosario necklace of light
Upon South American surf
She tells the history of paradise
With her Latina brogue
Sunk deep in Spanish legend
A song from the heart of Cartagena
Where she haunted the twilight balcony
A silhouette in the dying sun
Serenaded by her Latino Romeo
On her maiden voyage into love
As she tied ribbons of moonlight
In her raven tresses

Closed Forever
Slowly decaying and being reclaimed by Earth - this victim of time haunts us with what neglected nostalgia must look like.
An abandoned drive in movie theater should be as egregious as the skeletal remains of an amusement park.
“Closed Forever” appears now posted on the same marquee that once announced each week's blockbuster. It stands there like a medieval gibbet as a reminder of an era fewer and fewer people even remember anymore (post Iphone).
The alphabet that once scribed which Hollywood A lister was being featured now serves NO...

The Dusty Trail Round My Bend
A shame, tis that crushed gravel path
that's seldom footstep riddled,
where bicycle tires perspire tamed tread so little
A path where timid animal tracks
are spread thin,
a vapid vastness cast between flocks
atop
ground that sees only squirrels indifferent
and confused ants entranced
by stone hill queens
on that life lean walk, crushing
I'm shocked,
for a spot
with so few dropping leaves
and so few blades of grass for frost to freeze,...

A Not So Typical Morning In The South
My day starts off as usual. Im a creature of habit so, I take the same side road that I take every day on my way to work. It may not be the most direct way, but theres rarely any cars on this road so I get to open it up a bit. Ill take 10 mins out of my way to keep moving at a quicker pace than a more direct route where I have to move slower 10 times out of 10.
I come to a part where the road curves around to the right and just as I come out of the bend something catches my eye in the road. What the fuck is that? Its trotting towards my car. I hit the brakes firmly to slow...

LATE NIGHT STEALTHY RAINFALL'S PASSING HEALING SONG (somewhere around 1989; San Diego, California)
some faint steady
rhythmic sound
gently rouses me from my sleep
here at three a m
compelling me to get up out of bed
with eyes still partially closed
to go to my nearest window
where to my hypnogogic
pleasantly surprised delight
i unexpectedly discovered
then irresistibly chose to linger
to more deeply savor
listening to the steady
primal cleansing hypnotic sound
of a stealthily passing
late night coastal storm s
trance like pouring rainfall
dreamlike...

How verily unto two nations of thy brothern spiritually rise than fall
The insights of the Quran foretold of death, destruction, identities to become the catalyst that rules the psychic within us all
In the beginning of time souls that gave us the root of Heaven and Hell
The nucleus of your chromosomes, your DNA, from that moment of conception what you believe in or not, time will tell
The mark of the beast is the product from what it reaps ...

LITTLE WET FEET (4-28-1988; walking in the rain at the AZALEA TRAIL PARK, near Fickle Hill, Arcata, California)
as i walk listening
to thoughts that come and go
thoughts which take
brief refuge
from this sudden
unexpected
gentle falling rain s
delicate delight
as it s countless
little wet feet
dance so lightly
so sweetly
so intimately here
upon my joyously receptive face
their happy free dance
of life itself
and upon the leaves
of all these naked
green plants and trees
everywhere here
surrounding me ...

Mata Furry
On a Spring day,
five years ago,
I heard a loud knocking at my front door.
Approaching to answer,
I heard a faint scratching.
First checking the peep hole,
I saw not a soul.
Then the bell rang.
Carefully, with trepidation,
I opened to see
a pure white bunny staring up at me.
Irresistibly adorable I let the little guy in.
Barely crossing our threshold,
the creature hopped
to our den
as if on a mission.
I said, “well aren't you bold” and...

Ballad Of The Moon
I hear the moon singing a tune.
All very soon,in my head.
In my thoughts,in my bed.
I shined brightly with the light of the sun.
Warm and cozy.
As the moon sang her song.
The moon will sing for me.
She will glow brightly.
And set us free.
She loves us,just like the sun.
Orange,yellow in the night.
An eternal nightlight.
Shiny,bright moonlight.
And all it takes is a full moon.
To feel the bliss,happy,hopeful.
And you feel swoon.
I hear the moon singing a song.

The Seen and Unforeseen
I had just succeeded in shaking the world off, like a Pop! and started my journey alone up the mountain. No one wanted to go with me, and I didn’t waste any time on the offer of such an adventure.
It was as though I had been waiting on a sign from God my whole life, and had just gotten an answer, telling me I could go. I readied to get myself together. I felt blessed with a mind that lay wide open to receive such a treasure and began the journey. I was going to write a book. And even though I had been thinking about this swell book since I was a little girl. I didn’t know...

There is Transformation in Death
For some species on earth,
there is transformation in death, a renaissance
if you will, becoming young all over again, whether you
see it as reincarnation or rebirth, a new life begins. There is
transformation in death, some lifeforms can be considered
immortal, the cycle continues underneath the ocean waves,
filling the sea with vibrant and deadly limbs. But that’s the
way nature has made them out to be, a wonderful creation of
beauty and wonder, for when their time comes, ...
