The Carbon Family Picnic
At Evergreen Meadow,
The air crackled with excitement. It was the summer solstice, the one day of the year the sprawling Carbon Clan gathered in one place. This year, the honor fell to Carbon-12, their steadfast patriarch, whose sprawling oak tree in Evergreen Meadow served as the clan's traditional meeting spot.
Carbon-12 surveyed the crowd with a warm smile. His countless bonds had created a sprawling family, each member unique, yet undeniably Carbon. There was Carbon-13, his eccentric cousin, juggling aetheric energy orbs while debating the merits of isotopic art with...

Periodic Table of Arguments
Oxygen, a fiery little redhead with a southern drawl, tapped her foot impatiently.
"Hydro, honey, you're fixin' to make a fool out of yourself. Carbon is obviously gonna choose me. We make water together, darlin'. Everybody needs water. It's the lifeblood of everything!"
Hydrogen, Oxygen's nervous little sister with a squeaky voice, wrung her hands.
"You're so bossy!" Whispering loudly. "So grabby! You hog all the electrons! I offer Carbon a nice, even share. Think of all the cool stuff we can build together – hydrocarbons, the...

Flow Slow
In nature's infatuation
as clouds flow slow
winsome the hours
as gladsome soft winds blow
melodies euphoric
whispering lightsome oboes
tending to the peace
of silence below

Shin-rin Yoku Too!
Sun bathing
One tends to get a nice tan
To much sun
One goes lobster!
Shin-rin Yoku (tree bathing)
I spent to long under the leaves
And turned green!
this experience
Left me feeling jaded!

Rainbows (Acrostic)
Rainbows arc across the sky
Are beautiful, wonderful, and noticeably shy
Instantly magical, and a little surreal
Now they come in the shape of half a wheel!
Because rainbows have been around since times of old
Of tales, at rainbows ende, lies a pot of gold
Wonderful arrayS of colours, that pirouette
So: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet

new sun
that
morning's
ember,
how it
jumps,
it flies
on the
edge of
rumors,
each
descending
into the
corners
of
my room,
scraping
the
darkness
away,
leaving
my world
smoldering
while the
sun's
bloom
moves on.

water (in nature)
the warmth
of the sun
catching me
standing
there
at one
there
of my
favorite
chosen
scenic edges,
trees and
blue sky
copied on
the surface,
while slight
hills
dominate
each side,
caressing
her flow
downward
into lands
below,
and i
stand still
while
daydreaming
with her.

Secrets - The Puppy Farm
Day After Pub Evening With Gordon
After lunch, Mel drives Robert and me to the farm to see a litter of puppies. The dogs are based in Yorkshire, a collection of chocolate and black Labradors, nine of them under heat lamps, small woolly things with drooping mouths and serious eyes and tiny tails that swish from side to side. The smell inside the annexe to the farmhouse is strong, like a mixture of manure and peroxide. In the pen outside, the adult dogs bark in excitement when they see us, one tall black Labrador jumping up to nip my fingers.

Night Walk
I took a walk through the tapestry of night,
where streetlamps stitched their gold tight across midnight’s throat—
not stars, but close enough to mimic light,
to guard the paths where restless shadows are rubies.
A chorus hummed through bones of bending trees,
the wind’s tender grasp combed through the thorny thicket.
Far above, in blackened galaxies,
starlight blew its kisses—thick as good luck & hope.
The moon, ripe as a strawberry, dripped its glow,
and climbed the clouds like stairs, playing calipee. ...

a broken scene seen from a bald sky
life slipping away like porcelain
broken branches
scattered origami flowers
tired cuckoos circling around trees
reality disappearing into the whirlpool of a blackhole...

a slight cool breeze
as winter
came near,
i stowed
my aging
bones
safely away
from
the cold,
and close
to huddling
near my
gas heater,
all tidied
to the
warmth
inside,
but as
the day
turned
satisfactory,
i wandered
outside
until
a slight
cool breeze
blew my
thoughts
away from
fresh air
and
sunshine,
now back
into my
covered
and heated
sanctuary.
