Horse Poems
#horses
Horse poems, poetry about horses and ponies, and poems which use a horse as a metaphor. Nature poetry about powerful and majestic horses, and poems about horse riding.
Lovesong (Unbridled)
He rode atop that mounted horse
that whinnied along into the night
on and on together, astride
wanting never to stop or tire.
He held the reins and bridle tight
so no one else could know her this way
or steer her into the dark as he would
promises lighting the way.
Her eyes were deep with the Earth's secrets,
those he longed to know but never would.
His skull containing only a ridership
of prominent vision understood.
What lie ahead she would never anticipate,
plodding and dodging her circumstance.
Trust...

Berry Patch
We had a "secret" berry patch…
my sister and I...
would ride our horses down
to the edge of town...
...where…
under a mantle of leafy green...
shading them from
the hot Texas Sun
...lay hid...
a bazillion Boysenberries
as big as your thumb…
...with nary a thorn in sight…
There we both would eat
...our fill our …
coffee cans with berries…
snap on top the plastic lid
hook them carefully...
over our saddle horns
and take them home to Mum...

Unreal
Sometimes I feel like the
Velveteen Rabbit,
what the fuck is real
and does it hurt?
Not really connected.
Pixels paint my vision
this is a matrix,
the Oracle or Skin Horse
it's all the same
and the bunny always
gets burned.
Shapes.
Lines.
Space.
Solids.

Genesis 1.20 and 1.24 Reveal God's Modus Operandi
Genesis One, verses 20 and 24 POINT TO EVOLUTION as God's modus operandi.
It starts off with God bequeathing to Nature ("the waters..the earth") the ability
to create life ("bring forth the moving creature..the living creature..").
But not only is the original creating of life turned over to Nature,
the subsequent development of the species - speciation - is also turned over to Nature -
in the form of the very first original species or lifeforms.
For we read that way back in the beginning, God endowed each lifeform with the power to reproduce...

Little Ponies
We remain too little to ride
And too wild to care..
Our only longing,
To shed our winter's hair...
And too wild to care..
Our only longing,
To shed our winter's hair...

( a visual verse )
Draft hooves cut the sod, divots fly
Into charger’s sides, Master’s urge.
No test to win fair lady’s hand
As warrior's steed his bellows blow
Across the field of honor’s purge
Pursuant to the hounds,
The other side this day shall die
Till he and his colours go down.

( a visual verse )
They come from nowhere;
Horses that stampede through a life,
Herds of them,
And leave destruction in their wake.
Their whinnies & snorts & lashings
Bridle my hate and tether my fear.
But I can’t help but stay and watch,
For how majestic they seem.
They come from nowhere;
Horses that stampede through a life,
Herds of them,
And leave destruction in their wake.
Their whinnies & snorts & lashings
Bridle my hate and tether my fear.
But I can’t help but stay and watch,
For how majestic they seem.
