Long Poems About Honesty

The Book of Man
A story book their ingenious invention,
written with dishonest intention,
Penned by scribes with trembling quills,
To carve out myths and codify wills,
A patchwork text of borrowed, made up lore,
Bound to man an enthrall, to preach, implore.
Not a single voice divine, nor a holy pen,
But the schemes of greed, domination by power-hungry men.
Written by the minority they cleverly invent,
for the majority their ambitious intent,
Chosen by those who claim divine favor,
A gift to the few, the masses...

A Message For You
Since today is Thanksgiving, I wanted to reflect on a couple of things.
And no, there will not be any murder, death, debauchery, orgasms, bizarre antics or twisted endings in this message. I'll save that for tomorrow.
I've been here since January of 2024. I have enjoyed this site immensely. The best part of this site was reading other people's poetry. Were all different. We all tackle life the way we believe it should be tackled. Your viewpoints and ideas we'll probably be different then mine or someone else's. That's ok. It creates a unique individual that will shed light...

Bound by Time ...
We are all brothers and sisters through time,
no matter the generation before or yet to come,
we share the same thoughts and feelings.
Just as you feel when you look out into the oceans and watch the waves,
this was how I felt.
Just as you experience frustration in the tangle of everyday life,
I too lived in days filled with frustration.
Just as you are one of many in a crowd,
I too was a face among the countless.
Just as you are refreshed by the river’s gentle flow,
I too was cleansed and renewed.

The Narrow Path
I had once gone to London on vacation,
walking along the Thames, far, far away in dreams,
or maybe in fragments of a life that once was,
or could have been.
There was powder on my face,
a devil's trumpet in my hand,
and so many warnings,
but youth is deaf,
and wisdom,
a ghost cloaked in the unseen years ahead.
I was muscle-bound,
well-dressed,
a leather belt cinching a polished facade.
Yet beneath, I was already unraveling.
It was autumn, I remember,
the leaves spiraling downward,
their slow...

Another Day, Another Scribble
Sometimes I sit here,
staring at the blank page,
wondering what to write about
what’s rattling around in my head.
Is it something profound,
or am I just taking the piss again?
Sometimes I think I’m winding people up,
other times, I’m genuinely trying to say something.
I write when I’m happy.
I write when I’m sad.
I write when the world looks beautiful
and when it looks like the bottom of a bin,
Even if it might smell a bit crappy,
Sometimes it’s rage pouring out,
sometimes it’s a laugh at my own expense.
I never...

Labyrinth of Shadows
We hurt each other for a dull fun, take bitter draughts to numb the pain, ’til our shattered hearts beat hollow as tin drums, ensnared in a love born barren, a lone communion, a pale flame sputtering in the dark.
I want to know by what dark alchemy are we bound to fears we cannot see, each fear
a shadow thickening around the sinking soul? No sorrow strikes deeper than a mind torn, unraveling at the edge of itself.
I am bled of tears, wrung out , this time let ache have its reign, until ache itself goes numb, Grip slipping, a slow erosion of my soul, O,...

ragged-edges on my breath, on my body
The living room
had that cozy fall glow
as the day waned
and my body peaked
under your curiosity
The satin robe
I’d hidden in
pooled at my feet
like melted ice cream
as your knuckles
traced my collar bone
before you took me gently
to the floor
And made a crime-scene
outline around my body
with your exhale
My hair fanned on the carpet
skin dimpled with chills
as your lips
investigated
each white line
on my long body
My eyes squinched shut
fist balled ...

First and Last Kiss (Ending)
We both went to the small kitchenette and found two Dixie cups. I followed him to his office and watched as he pulled a small bottle of Gin and tonic out of his small refrigerators under his desk.
After pouring us both a cup we did the customary tapping and took a drink. Closing my eyes and just enjoying the floral scent most gins have as it went down.
“It’s good right?” He asked as I opened my eyes to see him looking at his own cup in thought.
“Have a seat. We should not stand around after enjoying this gem.”
I smiled and went to the recliner in...
