The Happiest Smile
I greet the new year with the happiest smile!
Because with Kara at my side, I am content.
Each moment we share, each day, each night...
Makes me the happiest little girl in the world.
I greet the new year with my very own style!
Singing, dancing, so all my joy is given vent.
The is the first new year that feels fully right...
It is more precious than diamonds, or pearls.
Because I greet this new year as Kara's wife!
With him as my husband I know only delight,
I will be at his side forever, in our happy life.
This is my dream come true...

Refinding Corfu
And when Somnus breathes little deaths upon the living,
when the night ripcurls with rain's unrest,
I will unweave the lessons of Summer
spent upon Demeter's dress,
I will take to walking streets in Kerkyra,
the boat out to blue caves at sea,
delight in dining by Foros,
recall and relearn how to breathe,
as I did in that bakery in old town,
as I began to find out how to speak,
when the hands only carried small drachma,
when plates were smashed in the street.

spent upon Demeter's dress,

Love Conquers Winter
The holidays are here in full swing!
My mother put up the big special tree.
And my sister added the ornaments,
So everyone can be happy and sing!
This time of year is so special to me.
It sings to my heart's own sentiments,
Reminding me of life's special joys.
Like when I play with all my toys...
And make lots and lots of silly noise.
That doesn't mean that I'm not wise!
It just means that I am me.
Only me, very much indeed!
The only thing I know how to be.
My spirit bright when it is freed,
To soar with my imagination. ...

While She Was By The Pool
It
was while
she was by
the pool of her
Los Angeles home
that Bonnie Sue began
to miss all of those Christmas
holidays with her family
back in Ohio before that one
heated argument she had with her dad.

His Reflection In A Round Ornament
On one Christmas Day, Rudolph
the Red-Nosed Reindeer
looked at his reflection in
a round ornament
and smiled for he truly
liked what he was seeing.

Jolly by Golly
There is Xmas, then there is Xmas—
each birthed from differences
and responsibilities.
Earth pounds beneath you to love
like this you must be punished
to appreciate hurting this way.
Two thousand odd years—
whose logic is this?
Winter comes, oils your skin,
and maybe it would come without Xmas,
but you are afraid what would happen
without you.
Besides, living is necessary. It keeps things
as they should be.

One Way Of Watching The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
While the family watched
the Macy's parade on TV,
I looked out the window
and saw it going down
our very own street.

Me
Don’t invite me to any events.
I don’t like weddings, funerals, parties, etc.
While others are planning to go out,
I’m planning not to go anywhere.
Don’t send me any friend requests,
For I don’t want any friendships.
Real friends are hard to find.
Moreover, I’m not a friendly person.
Don’t send me an invitation to a game.
I don’t have time to play games.
No one can easily impress me.
And I never tried to impress people.
Don’t start a conversation with me.
I don’t want to talk to anybody.

My roommate came out
with her costume on... ready
for our friend's party.

While a frozen beer glass
melts in the heat,
a Motorhead tee shirt
gets played on repeat.
my overdressed legs
are stuck to the seat,
when I close my mind
I can hear the beach.
So I'm falling forward
back to the crime,
my eyes are seasick
guess you must be blind.
On days like these
we can take all the time
and all I can do is smile.
The toilets are through
a back room bar
where bald old men
sit smoking cigars
I ask for a light
and they show me their scars ...
