A Gift
Good Morning to each of you. I went to bed last night without any gifts under the tree.
I woke up this morning and there were a whole bunch of gifts waiting to be opened.
The power of magic if you believe in something.
As I approached each gift, I realized that every gift was from all of you.
You all are the gifts that were under my tree.
Everyone of you have made me shine since arriving here in January 2024.
The power of words, praise and feedback truly is something magical & real.
I wish all of you at DUP a Happy Holiday and Happy New Year.

rest assured
an artistry in the spilling of words onto the page
finessing the thoughts
stringing them together in a way to make one feel
deeply and passionately with tempo, rhythm and rhyme
sublime feeling when you get it just right
troubling the depths stirring emotions
connecting with one another
we poets are a different breed
hunting for just the right word play
something soft to fall on the ears
it's in the versed I find God
sleepiness of soul and I'm dreaming
ladybug sunshine and starlit horizons
my mind turns happiness over...
finessing the thoughts

This Revolution will not be televised
Been there and back
from the cruelty of various cultures
mocking a different stride of life—
color, accent, hairstyle, nationality—
dining on the doubt and insecurity
of a vulnerable crowd
—wore that mantle for years
almost believed what they said. . .
until realization hatched
Fastforward:
Now, I eat bullies for breakfast—
feed gossip mongers to pigeons;
machete paths with their razor tongues
to reveal jungles of doubt and insecurity
they attempted to camouflage
all with...

IN THE MIDSUMMER HEAT
In the midsummer heat
our blues are in retreat.
Joie de vivre in the street,
the disco pounds its beat.
Dresses are less discreet;

The Ritual
Early morning solitude
Awakens with bird songs
And fading cricket sonatas
Rising dayspring mist resembles
Steam emanating from the kettle
On the brink of a whistle
Sugar and cream float patiently
As the teabag sits primly still
Civilized in its order
Anticipation of the first sip
Matched by the alluring aroma
Of steeping English Breakfast
Not another portion of the day
Will equal these moments
Meant just for me
Alone and quiet
At peace and grateful
Embraced by...

lilac kisses
spring is a flirtatious vixen
eager to sow her precious seeds
& experience a world barely awakening
she dares burst forth
...so full of life...
while snow still blankets the earth
coy little crocuses shoving impatiently through
splashes of purples...yellows...& blues
exuberant & anxious to show her potential
she flaunts her prominent belly
glowing with her fertile beauty
as she births flora & fauna alike
a new year has been born
with all her children gathered at her feet
decadently spawning every color...
eager to sow her precious seeds

DO YOU REMEMBER
Do you really remember how it use to be, when we could just listen to real soul music, 🎶 of our lives. For sure there were songs that were set up, for the betterment of life and love and happiness. Sometimes there were songs, that carried us to be close than close, like when we have a honest moment of misunderstanding. There was songs that rap about some serious moments in relationships, to cost us to become separate from one another in our own lives. For sure there were songs, that recommended that we stayed together, even when things were going 😞 bad due to being unfaithful...
