Sensory
I am the dirt under her fingernails.
She picks me away from where I cling to her
trying to hide how close I want to be
trying to make myself smaller
less visible
in still wanting her.
I am the uneven part where the comb missed at the back of her head
Probably around every third day or so
when she gets so tired her arms don't want to reach out.
I stand out once you notice me
but I don't really matter.
I am the leftover smell of a scented bin bag
No purpose, really, until I'm needed
No real appreciation warranted ...

Half Cooked Bacon..
The air fills with the greasy smell of bacon;
starving, my stomach growls desperately
Smoky sweet,
a salty treat!
I wait impatiently as it sizzles in the pan
Mouth is watering ;
I swallow my hunger as I stare at the crisping meat
Nerves beyond control;
I take the bacon out half-cooked
Man...I should've waited longer..!

Alone...it comes.
It comes, the rain
I saw it cross the plain
Thick dark clouds, dark blue sky
I feel it, loneliness once again
Raindrops tap as they land on the tin
Big drops drop drop on my skin
I inhale the smell before the storm begins
Sensation unanswered, loneliness comes again
The birds have disappeared
Traffic on this lone road has slowed
The thunder shakes my bones
The lightening almost making my heart explode
Alone
It comes
Comes again
The touch of the neck
The kiss on my lips ...
I saw it cross the plain

Provocation of Critical Thoughts
Just lock 'em up and throw away the key
Seems to be the mentality in our society
Whatever happened to the system of trying rehabilitation
Why do we have such high incarceration rates in this nation
Have the powers that be robbed everyone blind of their empathy
Is the most important thing to achieve, the accumulation of money
Does the pursuit of happiness revolve around acquiring material things
When you sit back and critically think do you still believe that we're free
If your only viable options were a living hell or a potential jail...

Rails laddered lateral
Parallel
Spans of measured meters - repeat
In ramparts undergirding - tracking dreams
And their iron accounts tell
They tell
Transient transcendences
In boxcar Bethels
Fancies followed by ferrous paramours
Of world
Of others - away
Of ventures vain
Or distant claim
Dens for vagrants bare of foot
Shod in denim and soot

My Thoughts Destroyed Us
I closed the door and told myself
it would only be for a moment.
I knew all too well what happened
if I sat alone in silence for too long.
But those seconds turned to minutes,
days, weeks, months, years, a lifetime.
I could hear you screaming,
but the words that once brought me back to you
only pushed me farther away.
The door threatened to break off it's hinges,
but even if you managed to get it open,
you would hurt yourself in the process.
