Tale of the hare (For Northern_Soul)
I often think of you
the hare burrowed
comfortably inside
my left ribcage,
rising up, stoking
fires in ivory glades,
carving ripples
in blood instead
of water and
fresh lakes,
a beacon as
to why some
still carry
on here.

He wants your attention
Little boy left for hardly 10 minutes
The sitter had gone to the store for some cigarettes and soda
When she returned she saw the fire engines in front of the house
She saw the smoke & flames
She found out that the little boy she was babysitting had lit his little brother's crib on fire
The baby was burned to death
He used the matches she had left on the table
He had heard that the only child gets more attention from the parents
With more love & extra dessert
He was only looking out for number one

Forget the funeral
Place the body in a dumpster
Saves you money
I chose the dumpsters behind Old Navy & Michael's
Most of their garbage is fabrics, soft materials and other plush & cozy things
I want my family member to have a relaxing stay inside one of these dumpsters
I'm always thinking of everyone but myself
You won't have to see all those relatives that you hate
You won't have to fake being upset
Let the public sanitation engineers worry about it
You've got it hard enough
Besides, who needs all that strenuous bullshit ...

Love is…
An obligation carved across
the leaves of stone, genetic book
of life, sometimes diluted by a loss
of love given by those supposed to look
to your development, give care.
I can’t say my genetic book will close.
I still receive its meanings now, for those
I’ve long since disavowed, would soak
in time, indifference. We don’t deserve
but neither are we unworthy of love.
It glows in darkness like a bellied stove,
its heat sometimes a secret thing.
