why study art
don't study the "humanities",
they're not human enough.
they won't help you to
a) love what's human on this earth
b) appreciate human nature
c) connect with human art
d) understand yourself
e) understand others
f) or even make money
the "humanities" will, at worst:
- destroy your love of human things
- destroy your love of human art
- destroy the human things in you
- and make you kill yourself
the "humanities" will, at best:
make you a teacher
of a privileged few
they're not human enough.

Clouds in My Coffee
They who shall not be named
Will not be shamed
Or tamed
In the games that these wild hearts once played
They, who once gave coy smiles
While biting a lower lip, slightly
Lightly
Likely to say something more without words
Left me wondering
Even in the recollection of sitting in that lecture hall
I gazed at the mystery and intrigue
As all (male) eyes watched enthralled
Spellbound by someone completely out of their league
But as fate would have it and just out of habit
I wrote the words in my head in the moment...
Will not be shamed
Or tamed
In the games that these wild hearts once played

Chaotic Mind
It's that time again
One month till college
Time to start packing
Making lists
Thinking of what I can't forget
One month of my summer job left
Have to push through
Make some money to save
Spend lots of time with my mom
Once I leave, she'll be alone
Still have summer courses to get through
Don't loose focus
Somehow make it another month without seeing my love
Try to get in as many video calls as possible
Think of getting my tortoise to the dorm
And our cat
Waiting on people to email me back
Trying to get my...

(From the Walternate Universe)
It was on the outskirts of the great city
When I ran into me from another universe
He was sitting in a café reading the paper
Waiting for me, ready for us to converse
We stared at each other for about a second
He looked like me but just a skinnier a version
He had a goatee, mustache and a black beret
I wondered about this parallel world excursion
Right on man, the beatnik said with a smile
Have a seat, he added putting the paper down
And I still baffled at seeing a Walternate...

Small Town College Girl
When I sat at the lunch table, she barely looked up. I cleared my throat and said, “Hi, I’m Jeff. I haven’t seen you on campus.” The older girl next to her looked on suspiciously.
“I’m just here for the summer. I’m Sam...for Samantha. This is my mentor,” she said, nodding to the older girl.
“Sam is on campus to learn about college life. Maybe she’ll come to school here in a couple of years.” She smiled at Sam who was looking at her lunch tray.
“Can she go to the lake?” I asked the older girl.
Sam looked up, “I can go wherever I like....

An Ode To My Muse
Some days it's hard for me to quiet my muse
No matter how hard I try & try, it's of no use
Got so much to do but you keep throwing me lines
So many that, at times, I can't remember the rhymes
I'm trying to stay focused and get through these courses
But I keep falling prey to you and these chess pieces
Jesus! In the name of Allah the beneficent and merciful
I bet that line made your mind run in a full circle
Now back to my muse; I'm not done with you
Each and every word observed is totally true
I love you but you make it...
No matter how hard I try & try, it's of no use
