Swing
I pass it on the way
as I start the day
it hangs frayed
crestfallen
from a
wide
oak
Each
time I
have to ...
quickly glance
hoping to chance
upon some girl at play
Feet kicking to the sky
never asking why
her ride always
must end
without
me
as I start the day
it hangs frayed
crestfallen
from a
wide
oak
Each
time I
have to ...
quickly glance
hoping to chance
upon some girl at play
Feet kicking to the sky
never asking why
her ride always
must end

Perpetual Seeker
I don’t know” is the challenge
a return to childlike innocence
“I don’t know, but I’ll find out” is challenge accepted
awakens the inner detective, researcher, puzzle solver
“To the best of my knowledge” is the reward
praying that my curiosity hunger is never satisfied,
that my thirst for knowledge never abates
that my honest lack of education
will forever supersede my pride
knowing everything, where’s the fun in that
a return to childlike innocence

This is an imagined reality
where you never left the city,
and we aren’t just strangers turned acquaintances turned friends
who crossed paths a few months ago.
In this little world I’ve built in my head,
we're childhood friends on a rickety old school bus,
always claiming the last row like it's our throne.
We share tiffins packed with love, your mom’s aloo parathas, my poha
trading bites and secrets with equal delight.
We blow bubblegum balloons till they pop on our faces,
and laugh so hard our tummies hurt.

Believe
Please don't cry little one
Daddy will make your tears fade away
Don't be sad precious one
Daddy will make your world bright today
Don't be afraid my son
Sometimes you will fall and that's okay
Just don't give up and run
Sometimes all that you can do is pray
Trust in yourself and you can do anything
Look in yourself to find what you are missing
Free your mind and you'll start to see
All you have to do is believe
Don't get mad little one
Daddy will help you find your way
Don't lose hope my sweet one
Even...

How do I tell you
Have you seen cats
How they claw if someone is after their kid
And they are not afraid of loosing their life

a childhood
A childhood
Stony was the soil of my childhood
A tiny room above the stable
Cold was the night
A straw mattress and mice
Ice crystal on the roof
Dreaming of running somewhere
Anywhere but here
A pale dawn
The sun is white this morning
In the barn animals stir
No more time to dream
Tomorrow he will run away
Stony was the soil of my childhood
A tiny room above the stable
Cold was the night
A straw mattress and mice
Ice crystal on the roof

Heartstrings Can Be Troublesome Things
It’s the innocence about the times that I miss most
The way they used to look up
The little voices pulling at the heart
When I used to drive by that church on Washington
There was a moon at the top of the steeple
His little voice would cry out “the moon daddy, the moon”
There was some comfort in hearing that
Yet I knew deep down inside as time would go by
All that would fade away
But that was years ago…
It was as we walked through the museum
That his silence pierced through me
His indifference growing
That...
The way they used to look up
The little voices pulling at the heart
When I used to drive by that church on Washington
There was a moon at the top of the steeple
His little voice would cry out “the moon daddy, the moon”
