one voice
do not try denying
every little struggle,
the cries and pain
from generations,
children weeping
in lands so selfish,
what destruction will play
if we forget
that it only takes
one voice
that could begin
to make a difference.

new year many times
New Year many times
This afternoon, I have watched many new years all over the world, in Australia, New Zealand, and other nations
it is all the same as a fireworks display (the Saudis has
the best and longest one)
I have, minutes ago, seen from the terrace the sky is afire happy fireworks, and I hear the jubilation
Sometimes, we have to enjoy the moment, in Cascais
the sky looks splendid, and this is not the time
to say the moment spent on this frivolity could have been better spent on the poor
The TV camera is out taking picture of the...

Elegance In the Eye of Cartageña’s Pearl
Elegance In the Eye of Cartageña’s Pearl
Down from the misty mountains
Where she labored
Under the sign of the jaguar
Beneath the jade sun
Harvesting sacramental beans
Lemon sunshine streets
Of Columbian citrus dreams
Where native lady flowers
In rainbow dyed gown
And cinnamon perfume
She poses for pictures
With strange American men
An international diplomat
Who speaks no English
But knows the language ...

Fathers and Sons of Gaza
He does not look at the child in his arms
he looks only ahead, his feet fly
at the spur of worry, does a child
weigh less when it loses playfulness?
he does not look at the child in his arms
The stagger of his run make the limbs
of the child sway, giving a semblance
of breathing, his arms tighten to keep
the pieces from falling, he searches
for succor in the eyes of other men
he meets only quiet hopelessness
sitting on rubble of erstwhile homes.

The Joy They Bring
Hearing the voices of my children
the hugs and smiles they give
their willingness to be there in my older age
being together during the holidays
these things bring me more joy than I can say
with the turning of every page.

XMAS 1986
Hello folk; I'm so glad to be alive
17th September - to-day won Singles Championship 22-5
70 years old - bowling-mad - I've made my goal
My name has gone up on Popes Mead's Honours Wall.
This personal success has gone to my pen
Out comes my rhythmic trend - a spurt - when
Out pours my feelings - my brain starts to tick
What a nice year this has been - Nineteen Eighty Six?
This 1986 epistle - "Yours truly' comes first
Must be careful now - my head might just burst
A "personality change" can come - so it is...

posters
Wall posters
There is in a town, not far from here, a house with a tall wall a solid protector from prying eyes, the house has shuttered windows, which makes it a Mediterranean dwelling
The wall is a perfect place to put up posters of coming
attraction, when the stout opera lady is singing at the people's hall or when the circus is coming to town
Posters of different colors tell of a future promise that has come and gone.
There is a square with a cafe with tables and chairs that serves home-cooked meals at lunch, simple food with
tomato salad and wine...

a nation demise
A nation demise
Women's rights are at a crossroads, the right to go up to the top in any corporation, sit at the table making decisions that might be useful for the firm, but unsafe
for the society impressed by the powerful.
The highest accolade, often overlooked, is to give birth to a new life, only a woman can do this, but we appear
to forget what is important
The continuation of human life.
Women, married or not ought to have four children if civil life as we know it is continuing, that means a society must free women economically to pursue this ...

busy afternoon
A busy Friday afternoon
Exploding plane, but not an exploding cigar, as days of fun have long since gone.
The Byzantine Empire never left Russia, either that or they were incapable of keeping secrets, and sober leaders
like Putin, appear to be a rarity.
Trump the chomp, has had his mug- shot taken he didn't look pleased, and we agree, it is not the done thing to treat a president this way piling on humiliations like it was confetti, but I think Trump should avoid flying until
We win the election again, the American voters are mad enough to let this happen. ...

Who cares what we see ?
I understand now that I'm not a wreck but a deeply caring person in a structured decaying environment . I feel deep emotions I cry and I smile because I'm paying attention. Watching all the time and I feel every change in a face without a sound . It’s my heart it’s infiltrated my eyes and my mind . People are becoming a commodity how many hours of a body can be utilised working for its pay to stay afloat in sinking boats of interest rises and electric and gas charges and the cost to just survive. No wonder we are becoming desensitised. How can one not be to cope in such choppy waters . I...

the loss of the known
The loss of the known
A sudden flash occurred, a moment of a forgotten past
walking down a wide road that only had a few cars trundling along
to the left where the road wears to the right, a café I thought of going
in for a beer, but the dog if left outside, would fret
A fine day, not hot or cold, must have been early spring or fall
tried to remember what I was doing before the curtain was drawn
I was left with an unfinished memory, one I had to make it up
to fill in the blanks.
Something sad about the scene of a sole...

my driveway in june
I sit in the yard in a folding chair
a cheerfully bright blue sky overhead
billowing white clouds with a touch of grey
my children laughing as they play
drops begin to fall to my surprise
my wildlings run for cover to stay dry
I remember in my own childhood
I would never escape to the inside
I have missed the rain on my skin
it reaches deep into the crevice within
I lay on the cement as it comes down
lose myself in cleansing tears from the heavens
I hear a sigh and open my eyes
"This is nice." my...
