Least Read Butterfly Poems

Just cannot beat the rush
of the butterfly bush
when it is filled
chock full of beauty

So many varied hues
yellows, oranges and blues
like so many silk ribbons
dancing in the breeze

Always meant to please
a black and white soul
when she takes a stroll
along the back yard

A lesson so hard
to truly learn
while the candle does burn
about the balance of life

With both joy and strife
as they teeter
to the iambic meter
of life and and its poetry

Walking away from the ocean waves
toward the Ranger’s station
adjacent to a lush eucalyptus grove
descend among the cough-drop-scented trees
scores of Monarch butterflies ethereally float
on the gentle sea breeze
a joyous winged welcoming committee
flit around the heads of human visitors
Inviting the curious strangers
to spend time with them in their warm Winter home
thousands of orange and black striped,
white dotted wings carpet the leaves
and trunks of the trees
resting from their long migration
recouping the energy ...
