Cendra's Birthday Parties
Cendra had an unusual last name
Skin shades darker than mine
Parents years older than most.
No siblings.
She was confident and self-assured.
Additional qualities I found exotic.
I liked being around her.
Her 11th (12th?) birthday was at Gooney Golf
There was a giant dinosaur at the entrance.
The last hole was an igloo.
Even if you missed, it captured your ball at the end.
Gone.
After miniature golf, we went back to Cendra's house for cake.
At her decree, we smeared frosting on our faces.
When her...

Written in the Stars
Lying on a soft fragrant meadow
Under the diamond studded sky
In a warm summer night
Vibrating with magic
I read your story
Written in the stars
A rising star
Newly born and bursting with ideas
Highly intelligent and creative
A revolutionary mind
A fresh wind of change blowing
To renew and improve society
A celestial star
Coming from the universe
Following a higher calling
Embarking on a journey to
Bring justice and peace to
Planet earth and her inhabitants
A flickering star ...

a bit longer poem
a chap in work
whom I didn’t get on with
but rather admired
recently died
after he’d retired and I wished
he’d have lived

SURPRISED BY THE TASTE (2)
I
had heard comments
both positive and negative;
had actually been present
while others enjoyed it
and lauded its taste.
TO
look at it there wasn't
much to be excited about;
yet, I was frequently encouraged
to taste it and I'd like it.
THEN
one evening I gave in and
tasted Caviar. Yes, it was
different and I was surprised
by the taste. In time it grew
on me. Expensive but worth it!
MEET
me at the Kissing Place
and we'll share Caviar.
OKAY? My mouth is watering!

I don't write poems (with Reading)
I don't write poetry ...
They spell Me,
They lead me to themselves,
They are my teachers ...
Obediently lying down under my mind,
They carry words from somewhere ...
And I take off like a bird every time,
not afraid to fall. ..
Listening to the azure silence,
I lose myself somewhere in it
And I find in myself
That heaven or hell which lay in my soul,
That gave itself to me
And gave those words -
They are like raindrops
From the heart falling on the leaf.,.

.. a brief literary conversation at work,
people either know
nothing about
literature
or the THINK they know
way too
much
while at work there
was a discussion
on reading
habits
I (of course) spoke
of Hemingway
how he volunteered to be
an ambulance driver
for the Italian
army during
WWI
then his trip to Paris
where he became
part of the Lost
Generation and
crafted his
art into a
razor
along with Picasso,
Joyce and few
immortal
others

Soul Song of the Forbidden Keeper
I’m not here to hurt you, but free you
Before your short life is through,
“Baby it is what it is-and death will be here
But if you let me I’ll take away all your fear,
“With me you will rule instead and not be the one who’ll serves
Let me give you a taste-as I remove pain from your nerves,
“I don’t need you unconditional love or obedience
Just your sweet soul for all of existence,
“See as I keep away the heat from the fire
Blissful comfort is what you desire,
“There are others who will feast on your soul like a lunch
But to...

Unwealthy
She often brings more to most discussions than I do.
It’s seldom that you’ll see me start things that have a definitive end.
I usually end things that never began.
Then, proceed to whine about it in the aftermath.
But it’s her brilliance that draws me to her.
The blinding light of clarity that she exudes
burns the eyes of this blind moth
struggling desperately to be worthy of it.
I’m poor.
I’m poor of heart and mind;
of strength and will;
of words and wisdom.
But in her presence my idiocy...

Hymns Of A Rose
tis a Rose
birthed with the restlessness of love
embedded in a purity so fragile..so delicate
underappreciated..never reciprocated
wandering alone unsheathed
in a world amongst the misbegotten yet
never to blend in a field of weeds
a soul sojourner seeking truth beyond
the mythos of sex and the hypes of society
possessed with a type of propriety
that unnerves the modern man..out of place
hoping to reserve a space just for one
coping with the pressures of time ...

Priestess of Poetry
Priestess of Poetry
Sharp focus of her camera eyes
Sends solar flares into my schism
Where fire and water collide
Like the birth of the planets
She is the dark eyes of the world
That gaze upon my soul
With the heat of a thousand suns
When she breathes my heart murmurs
In the solitude of rebirth
When her comet streaks into my gilded maleness
From the outer reaches of my plasmic void
As silence is the song
When my orbit swings low
To her sweet chariot of fire
Sharp focus of her camera eyes
Sends solar flares into my schism
Where fire and water collide
Like the birth of the planets
She is the dark eyes of the world
That gaze upon my soul
With the heat of a thousand suns
When she breathes my heart murmurs
