#FathersDay
Celebrate Father's Day, the special day dedicated to fathers. Father's Day poetry about childhood memories and a father's love. Here you'll find poems thanking our fathers for all they have done for us, along with poems for dads who are no longer with us.
Father's Day 2021
Today is Father's Day. But because I have no father or children, I can't celebrate this day. Dad was born on October 18, 1947 and died on July 13, 2013 at the age of sixty-five. When I saw Dad in his casket, it brought tears to my eyes and made me feel sad. But it didn't make me feel any worse than I was already feeling. Mom died just four months earlier and I was already feeling terrible.
Dad was a good provider. He didn't earn a lot of money but he was a hard worker, and provided for my brother and I and Mom. Because Dad dropped out of school in the 6th or 7th grade, he could...

Wish

Probably
would’ve

Sire The Inspirer
He who sires or one who inspires a child
The leader of the pack while in the wild
Proud warrior, strong protector & a King
A good father embodies all of these things
He enters rings, prepared to handle his biz
With more power than Pryor in The Wiz
Loves his kids even when they are apart
They keep him thriving more than his heart
Hates having to depart from their presence
He'll take blows though and suffer in silence
Violence is not in his nature but you best beware
He'll push your muffin cap back blue if you take...

Sorry, no alcohol at all since last Sept 15, 2019.
And then, there's The Sobriety Marathon, 1987-2015.
In 2015 I decided to "treat myself" to trying all them craft beers that were not in existence when started 28 year sobriety "binge".
I was in another near year of sobriety when Leah died. I maintained sobriety for a month or two afterward, but then went back on my world beer tour.
Sept 15 was the stupidest day of my so-called Life. And it was triggered by an EXPLOSION of grief in the parking lot of the neighborhood grocery. I had picked up the mail before...

For the Men Who Raised Other Men’s Kids
This praise is for the men who helped or raised other men’s kids
They may not be your genes but it means something else for the good that you did
You have strength and durability
Because amid the turmoil when the shit hit the skids you kept a stiff upper lip and stayed
Father’s Day is way to say you too are honored for being brave in the crusade
You took on the responsibility
I can only imagine raising children at one point you may have been seen as a villain
When their lives were upside down or had a void and you came as in a fill-in
But you had...

Falsely yours
I sit in this suffocating box of darkness
Covered with a million more boxes on top of it
I sit in this room with nothing to do ,
all day and everyday after it
One would assume by this time I'd be crushed
Because I'm "helpless" and "weighed down too much"
Presumably I'm starving and might grow up to be an alcoholic
Assumedly I'm shy and don't think before I try
Maybe I'm just falsely yours,
or perhaps I'm yours entirely...
With this out the way,
All that's left to say is happy father's day to the man that tried to be

Father's Day
Today is Father's Day and this article is about my dad. His name was Charles Franklin Johnson. He was born on October 18, 1947 and he died on July 13, 2013 at the age of sixty-five. He was named after both of his grandfathers. Dad died of Leukemia. His parents were Bonnie and Burley Johnson. Dad was raised in Sneedville, Tennessee. He and my mom moved back to Sneedville and spent the last two years of their lives there.
Mom and Dad got married on September 25, 1965. My brother and his wife also got married on September the 25th, but that was a coincidence. They didn't do that...

A Father's Pearl
Provider, protector, progenitor, patriarch
Everything you do comes from your heart
The start of creation began with your seed
Implanted into the womb to be conceived
When nothing impedes our seeds progression
Or whenever it seeps through our protection
We receive the great blessing of fatherhood
The motivation to seek education & livelihood
Understood that you'd soon be relied upon
To raise and mentor your daughter or son
One that'll bring more sunshine to each day
Especially when they say Happy Father's Day ...

Dad, I wish you loved me like your job
Dad you will always be an example for me
You showed me how to work very hard for what you want
To never give up or accept anything as impossible
Your strength and intelligence always amazed me
How everyone respected and counted on you at work
You provided so many of the things a person needs
A house, food, security, and I will be forever grateful
Also the opportunity to live in another country,
which at first was very difficult and I was bullied and
picked on a lot for being American but
it offered me the opportunity to experience ...

"Crack wise" / "Better wise up soon" - Debate: 33year old VS 11year old. c.1963.
Jeez, how many I gotta tell you?
You stupid or something?"
"Gee, Dad i dunno. Maybe i am (stupid)"
"Goddamn it. Don't you crack wise with me, kiddo.
You know i've got the strap to make you regret it"
"I dunno! I dunno ! I dunno.....that's all I get out of you'
maybe I should just take you and your brother (6 yrs old) down
Commack Rd. to the nuthouse (Pilgrim State Hosp.) , and
leave your asses there. Then maybe you'll know something.
Stupid!
All I can say is you better wise-up soon."
"Yesa, Dad.. I...
