He traced its outline
With fingertips fine,
Saying, “I love you”
As he kissed the tattoo,

Put on that choice spot.

A name of any kind would be a tattoo I myself would never bear, though many do.

The inspiration was Tommielynn's picture showing her beloved grandma's tattooed name on her arm, about which she made a recent poem. I applied the thinking to a partner's name. (Though I understand trouble they may cause if it doesn't work out....!)

It is just a me thing Solomon, I wouldn't even have my children's name tattooed on me, not anyone's no matter who they are or how important in my life. :)

Solomon~My friends in the Army all got their girlfriend's names inked with flaming skulls and roses!!! By the time they rotated out, they all had new ones...girlfriends that is...the tattoos stayed...

Interesting piece about a fairly recent cultural phenomenon. Let's see it stand the test of time, but then that's why they makes lasers and flesh colored ink too I guess, cheers Sol!

Well poetry is supposed to contoversial no?
Personally I agree with Magdelena on this one. Strider points out the temporary nature of relationships that are "forever."
Some of my army buddies had their serial number and blood group tattooed in their armpits now have to explain everytime someone sees them. Oh well! :-)
