Candle of Destiny
- Candle of Destiny -
I am arisen from my ancient tomb.
My spirit, like a candle, parts all gloom!
Shadows are cast, of future and of the past,
Dreams to be realized at long last!
I voyage upon an endless and rippling sea.
Nothing can take, nor can any hand break,
What the light divine helped to make.
Let us rise together, united in our destiny!
I am the wick, and thou art the flame.
Burn me in pleasure or burn me in pain!
Set me alight, and I will show thee the way,
I can part the darkness, or brighten the day.
My body is a candle, for time to consume,
I was crafted for a purpose, I am fated to my doom.
But by my fire, the blind may begin to see!
As it was in the beginning, so at the end it shall be.
I do hasten with rapture, unto my destiny!
I am the wick, and thy joy is the flame.
Ignite me in passion or ignite me in shame!
Set me alight, and I shall bear thee far away,
I can show thee the heavens, or hells so gray.
My body is the candle, for love to consume,
I was swayed, by thy desires; I give thee, my boon.
By my warmth, thou wilt with clarity see!
It was ecstasy to my senses and sensual it will be.
I do hasten with rapture, unto my destiny!
I am the wick, and thy faith is the flame.
Seek me in fair weather, or seek me in rain!
Set me alight, and I will cure all of thy dismay,
I can lend thee my flute, if thou wilt but play.
My body is a candle, for death to consume,
I was: forged by my maker, reborn from my womb.
By my brilliance, all canst if they wish see!
My light was there long ago, eternally it shall be.
I do hasten with rapture, unto my destiny!
I am the wick, and my spirit is the flame.
See me in all my glory, or so see me in vain!
Set me alight, and I will open for thee the way,
I can grant thee Paradise, if my price thou pay.
My body is a candle, to be forever consumed,
I was woven eternal; I am threaded unto my loom.
By my radiance, the lost souls shall all see!
I was there in Creation, as ever my light shall be.
I do hasten with rapture, unto my destiny!

For the illustration to this poem of mine, I decided to use this beautiful photo of me wearing a fiery red wig, that I took using my webcam. I added an orange background to enhance the fiery mood of the photo, which goes perfectly with my poem methinks. :D

I am super happy you loved my poem, Grace! And thank you so much for calling me beautiful, my beautiful and kind friend. Yeah, I wanted to end this poem on a powerful and positive note, and the last stanza really drove the themes of the poem to their logical conclusion in a way I was happy with.

My thanks, big sister! It is one of my older works, though new to DUP, but I've always thought this poem to be one of my better works, truly. And one of my most joyful and passionate too! A splendid evocation of my fiery spirit, my loving heart, and my deep soul. ;) All of which I am happy to share with my friends, fans, and fellow poets here on the site!
