Lone Wolf
They come from afar for many reasons, but mostly for themselves.
They are the first of a very new breed; from places frozen in time.
Courageous souls, to venture so far from the familiar.
Pioneer spirits, smug in self-righteous superiority.
Remember that only the old ways are the good ways, yet to survive -
Give nothing back, take all that is offered, and demand more!
Lone wolf, to leave the pack and travel to a far off place.
Selfish in your sacrifice; ever wary of the competition.
Lone wolf from over there, to live and to prosper here.
Keep your culture close to you, for this is who you used to be.
Hold it on high for all to see, the contrived injustices you perceive.
Paint those who would thwart you, as ignorant bigots and racists.
You are a pilgrim in an impure world of non-believers;
Seduced by the irresistible god of opportunity.
Driven from your home by the elusive promise of a better life.
Detesting the allure of the new land while succumbing to it.
Venerating your far away home for the old ways you left behind,
Yet, raising your family in those old ways - and shunning your new neighbors.
Your world is now populated with sympathetic sheep.
Never show them your teeth and never wave their flag.
The sheep are as dumb animals; unless they hear you snarl.
Avoid their ire, work their system, and curse them in silence.
You are innately loved by the sheep, and this is your strength,
For they will make your enemies, the enemies of all.
Dream some day you might return, to the places you’ve abandoned.
No longer the vagabond but victorious in your quest, yet -
With hardened heart pumping bile, for living such a life apart.
Seek solace in the company of brothers, if you can find them.
Wrap yourself in your religion, if you hunger for redemption.
Lone wolf living unlamented in your new and hated home.
