I Remember

I remember a time when i crawled and walked within a week
Only for a chocolate shake
I remember burning my finger
Only cause I couldn’t wait
I remember crying for my dad
Only cause he never came home
I remember wishing on a star
To make my family whole
I remember going to a public school
Getting laughed and teased every day
I remember standing there and getting punched
I fought back and hurt him
I remember singing in class
Cause my teacher told me too
They cheered me on and maybe me smile
I remember coming home to see my mother cry
She never cried till she said my great grandfather died
I remember hearing sirens and seeing them go by
Only to hear my great grandmother died
I remember her funeral
When I saw them again they smiled and waved
I remember my first boyfriend
We lasted 2 years and a few days
I remember when I made new friends
Even though they were already dead
I remember my second boyfriend
He made me feel truly loved and he cared
I remember going to the movies with him
And him holding my hand
I remember missing him
And finally seeing him again
I remember when I stayed up late
And cried over all this
I remember when he picked me up
He held me close
I remember when I wanted to kill myself
Yet he stopped me
I remember running away
Only to be found a while later
I remember when my mom took everything away
Only cause I didn’t remember
I remember getting in a fight
I went back to finish it
I remember waking up to my brother’s foot in my face
Only cause he likes to sleep wild
