Thoughts in the sand
I sit in the darkness alone
staring at a picture of my children
I get home sick
An unclean feeling has consumed me
one that I can’t wash away
The things that go on here has a way of doing that I guess
I’ve never really listened to the sound of a heart beat until now
every precious beat has a meaning
I watched a Coffin being placed on a helicopter bound for Camp Barber
death in this desert is never graceful
but I pray the last beat they heard brought peace
This is not a poem or poetry, just thoughts in the sand
staring at a picture of my children
I get home sick
An unclean feeling has consumed me
one that I can’t wash away
The things that go on here has a way of doing that I guess
I’ve never really listened to the sound of a heart beat until now
every precious beat has a meaning
I watched a Coffin being placed on a helicopter bound for Camp Barber
death in this desert is never graceful
but I pray the last beat they heard brought peace
This is not a poem or poetry, just thoughts in the sand
