Mountain climbing
I went to the mountain
praying upon knees
my wishes
be granted to me
favored lucky humbled son
audacity to ask
the mountain loomed
requiring I soothe
stretched out my strings
acoustic style peace
with seduction inlaid
the mountain did sigh
gratified
but set out the warning
with each wish I had cried
one you will get
but this life
you must commit
the second you set
is the worthiest yet
take your time, learn
make it your quest
this third I must confess
dear boy,
you will have to sweat
for bleak as it may seem
there will be
truth in this dream
Your days will wander
and so much you, shall ponder
wondering
are you worthy
on your very word
i have now heard
to focus energy
in the care of this
life revelry
when last
you think you've tried
wait for the heavens
to hand you the sky
these dreams
are but worthy
of lifes great journey
so be gone now son
and leave this mountain alone
i packed up and left
finally taking a breath
as a captain at sea
starting my journey
the young man that was me

Easy to point out how similar this is to many stories about prophets, especially with mountains playing such an important role in most creation myths. The line about strings also reminded me of another rumored encounter but not heavenly---the tale of Robert Johnson at the Crossroads.
Whether intentional or not I find very easy to connect musical references to your words here, which for me is always cool.

Glad Ya Liked it Jazz!!!
yes the mountain was meant to be viewed as such...
and like Robert...it was questions posed while standing at the crossroads of my life the first time...I visited that mountain MANY times and had ALWAYS been retold the same facts...only the way, about the way is the journey not the answers told...how the journey is carried is up to you...impatience of youth and the desires for all kept the questionings of the mountain...
