smoke, bacon and the curiosity of tiny creatures
There's a piece of bacon
on the pavement out the back
covered in ants
I lean down to blow my cigarette smoke
over the little black hoard
and watch them scatter
This is the epitome of my boredom

Indie,
well, this is a totally different side to your writings,
I like it, it's funny and has some depth to it, dunno why I was expecting a different word than hoard, but hoard is totally cool.
good stuff

Lol, awesome. A sign of a true poet, surely, that you get us all interested in your boredom?

Re: smoke, bacon and the curiosity of tiny creatures
I believe the last line carries all the weight in this poem. Whatever you'd have put in that last line, that would of made this poem. I'd have probably wrote something miserably philosophic, but that's me.
I like it most when you sidestep love I think.

Yep, be damned my melancholy heart :P
Thanks for you comment Mr A, and I don't mind the philosophical edge, I agree in such a short piece, the list line was the make or break of it.
Thanks for stopping by. :D
