For J:
I loved you, Simple Classic Man
you, made of stone and earth
tawny, honest eyes and a virgin soul
Yet you could not capture me for long
I love you still
You are a pentacle, beacon, measurement for others
(no matter how I try to deny that)
I had always hoped in some secret, sorrowful way that you would always want me.
Maybe you do.
Will you walk down that isle with her weeks from now?
Will it put you in mind of me, fifteen years ago
before divorce
there in my pearls and ivory gown,
vowing to never let go...
But I did. Let go.
(Is she a good fuck, and do you love her?)
you, made of stone and earth
tawny, honest eyes and a virgin soul
Yet you could not capture me for long
I love you still
You are a pentacle, beacon, measurement for others
(no matter how I try to deny that)
I had always hoped in some secret, sorrowful way that you would always want me.
Maybe you do.
Will you walk down that isle with her weeks from now?
Will it put you in mind of me, fifteen years ago
before divorce
there in my pearls and ivory gown,
vowing to never let go...
But I did. Let go.
(Is she a good fuck, and do you love her?)
