Mahalo Hawai'i

Crystal clear water, clouds drift across the curulean sky
A sense of peace, like my soul coming at last home

Gentle breezes, perfumed by the island flowers
Birds sing in chorus full of joy and praise

Warm shimmering sand beckons me to the water
Where my spirit can cleanse and become free

Walking hand in hand at pink sunset with the one I love
Barefoot as the laping surf kisses our feet

Quick and soft rainfall, our chance to kiss romance
Only to be surprised by another perfect rainbow

Memories out on the water, salty spray and warm sun
Young, tan and strong outrigger canoing against the heaving waves

Lush green volcanic mountains thrusting up to the sky
The taste of succulant sweet pineapple runs down my chin

Fresh roasted Kona coffee seduces the senses
The perfect companion to another spectacular sunrise

Fitting that it takes so long to get here
Leaving behind all that it is ugly, sad, and tedious about life

It's the place I retreat to when the world gets me down
Mahalo Hawai'i for being my safe and secret sanctuary
