i found a new universe undressing you
you stopped looking at the sky
when it changed colors
and your skin grew grey
like dead leaves lit on fire
to burn to her liking
i'm still not sure how i feel
about girls who play with flames
though i hold a constant ember
just under my palm, in the back
of my pocket
maybe we're so similar
that you might have forgotten
how much more i love to hold your hands
than her
or flush your cheeks with pink
and falling for the way they were always
accompanied by a smile,
those beautiful things that make you melt
without water or heat
i told you i'd steal your pale
when you slept- that i'd drip blue coloring
in your eyes
and refine the way
the rain falls from them
i think you told me to stop dreaming and
with the way my head
turned things into metaphors
and pretty pictures
that love couldn't be the love
you were taught it was
in the end she shown brighter
i made myself forget the rest
when it changed colors
and your skin grew grey
like dead leaves lit on fire
to burn to her liking
i'm still not sure how i feel
about girls who play with flames
though i hold a constant ember
just under my palm, in the back
of my pocket
maybe we're so similar
that you might have forgotten
how much more i love to hold your hands
than her
or flush your cheeks with pink
and falling for the way they were always
accompanied by a smile,
those beautiful things that make you melt
without water or heat
i told you i'd steal your pale
when you slept- that i'd drip blue coloring
in your eyes
and refine the way
the rain falls from them
i think you told me to stop dreaming and
