In all seriousness, has all the emotions of feeling alone in a relationship.
The longing turns to bitterness and off the rails it goes.
I really enjoyed the stanza where the wind came screaming in the window.

Yep, the fire is the core theme of the relationship. The electric heat is meant as outside sources interfering with what's important. Or something like that?

I totally get, the fire got replaced with something else that's still warms you up, but not in the same untamed way.

Yep. Too much of anything takes for granted what was core for the survival of a relationship.

Something tells me this was more of a past purging of what was taken for granted via absence or lack of attention. One of the biggest mistakes we can make is believing we have more time tomorrow.

This was an old write. A couple of recent things that I read here made me think of it. So I dug it out and reworked it a little. I get motivated at times by things that I read. This was an instance of that.

Fire is everything. Be it real or a metaphor of passion and such.
The "taming" of fire was one of the huge stepping stones in the advancement of the early human race. Cooking, warmth, protection. It aided in our bravery from the dark.

You know I'm all about detail and metaphor. Even in my common language poetics. There's a niche for all types of writing. I guess this is mine.
  I always wanted to be a painter of pictures. But, words won the calling. I see it all better this way.

Really great write. I love tending the fire as an analogy for relationships (my interpretation of your write). Relationships take tending. You are a talented writer - I am always excited when your work pops up on my feed. I generally wait to read it until I am in a place to take some time. 😁
